So we will leave early on Saturday 12th September and head north. Google maps says it is 38 hours drive to cook town. 5 days travel doing 8 hours a day. If we have second drivers we can travel a little longer each day. The plan being to push hard to get up there, and have extra time up our sleeves if things go wrong.
We then have to leave 5 days to travel back. I am taking 5 weeks off work, 12/9 - 17/10/
So the plan is to travel from Victoria to Cairns
Starting early Saturday 12/9 and getting to Dubbo on the first day. (884 Kms 9 1/2 hours.
2nd day (Sunday)is to get to Toowoomba. 725 Km 7:3/4 hours
3rd day (Monday) is to get to Bunderberg. 420 Kn 4:3/4 hours.
This is the light drive day and allows us to have a tour around of Bunderberg.
4th day (Tuesday) goalis to get to McKay 625 Km 7:00 hours May try driving a little further but Mcaky is the last big town.
5th Day (Wednesday) we make it to cairns and rendervous with those flying in. 736 km 8 1/2 hours
Thursday is a free day, wher you can do touristy things in cairns, go fishing, etc.
Anyone wanting to rendervous in cairns can do this let us know and we can organize it.
Friday we head up through port douglas to the Daintree forest.
then cooktown, Cooktown to musgrove
then Musgrove to bramwell Junction so we can start the Tele track
ANy other points of interest along the way up and back 4wd or not can be suggested.
