Abercrombie / Hampton Trip Notes
This is a recon trip for a planed public trip later in the year.
For this "Reccy" the plan is to depart Friday afternoon around 4:30pm and camp at Abercrombie River Camp Ground. Saturday morning we will head for the our start point, the "Abercrombie River Fire Trail" where we can air down and begin a great weekend on the dirt. This area is hilly but does include some flat areas between the ridges, so there will be some easy touring and good low range climbs and descents, not to mention, a few river crossings. We will pass some great camp grounds along the way that offer "walk-in", "beside my car" and "Camper Trailer" friendly sites as well as some good vantage points to look over the valleys, namely the "Kanangra Walls". This trip should have us around the famous "Jenolan Caves" for lunch before heading to our camp site for Saturday Night at either "Black Range" or the "Cox River" camp grounds. Sunday will see us complete the trip by taking a side trip to "Gibraltar Rocks Lookout", which I'm told is well worth a visit. After returning to the main trail we will pick up the "Mini Mini Fire Trail" and head to the end where it will be time to Air Up for the trip home.
