4WDTRIP Team Meetup and Trip Leader Information Weekend

 

In order to create a better Trip Leader guide combining our experience and knowledge, we are planning a special trip focusing on developing the best practises for our Trip Leaders. 

 

Summary

The goal of this trip is to discuss, develop and test some of the techniques and skills that are essential for leading a trip. We want to ensure we are on the same page when it comes to trip leading. We will spend a great deal of time on Day 1 (Sat) on discussion and talk about all the theory. We will then try to apply them on the second day (Sunday). This will involve actual driving and let some of you lead the trip (or tracks). 

 

Day 1 - Friday 

• We have decided to stay at Erica Caravan Park for the night due to safety and weather concern. A few will head to O'tooles on Friday.

• NOTE: you are free to decide where you want to stay on Friday night.

Day 2 - Sat

• We will head to O'tooles on Sat morning for meeting. 
• I expect the meeting may take a few hours. 
• We will try to find some tracks or route for testing what we've come up or learnt from the meeting/discussion. 
• Depending on the weather, we may head back to Erica or camp at O'tooles. 

Day 3 - Sun

• Again, depends on the weather. Few options include:
  • Continue on Trip Leader Guide discussion (and de-briefing)
  • Head to Walhalla to visit the old gold mining town. 
  • Try Deep Creek Tks or other tracks nearby
• Thank you and good bye

This is not a training exercise. This is an opportunity for us to sit down and talk about all these topics rather than spending most of our time behind the wheel.  Sharing our experience and exchanging ideas are the goal. 

 

Location

The location wil be at O'Tooles Flat campground north of Walhalla. We plan to meet up at Maccas @ Moe before heading to the campground. The campground is a large flat area with drop toliet. There should be plenty of space to accommoodate all of us. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are many good tracks in the area. I will further update everyone and confirm what tracks we will be driving on Sat afternoon / Sunday.
