Dates are locked in but subject to weather. Rain or wet weather means I dont want to be stuck on the side of Mount Skene so trip will be postponed if necessary.
I've put in for leave on the Friday might just do a Woods Point weekend if conditions go south.
Basic outline is to work from Barkly River Jeep track off the side of Mt. Skene, over to Woods Point and through to Walhalla over the next few days.
Walhalla isn't the destination, but we'll be heading that way to do some of the more interesting tracks along the way. Finish up wherever the tracks take us on Sunday.
Will be meeting up Thursday night and on the trails from Friday through to Sunday so most of us will need to take Friday off work as its doubtful we'll do it over Labour day weekend, too many people on the road and camping in the good spots.
Will need self sufficency for three days, food, fuel and water plus snacks.
You "MUST" have at least a rear diff lock, not LSD, twin locked is even better, MUST have a working winch and enough recovery gear for self recovery if required.
All Terrain or Mud Terrain tyres, no road or highyway pattern tyres, decent clearance, and have experience in steep rocky terrain which doesn't mean "I send it to get up hills'....... It is slow terrain that requires wheel placement and throttle control over right boot.
Plus my Hilux only has 60kW so I can't send it anyway.
So for those who enjoy technical driving it should be a cracking trip, early stop if we pass a good spot with relaxing afternoons = plenty of time to set up and refresh and bench race the day just passed. Good campfires weather permitting, and lots of tall tales makes for enjoyable evenings.
A quiet camp at night no doof doof and respect for others is the only other prerequiste.
Everyone to take their own rubbish home responsibly.
Hope you can join or show interest.
