Hi Guys,

Am heading off tomorrow morning for a 2 night trip through the high country with a mate and his kids. At the moment we’re just two cars, looking to add some more.

Rough plan is to convoy from Stratford BP to Talbotville tomorrow where we’ll set up camp. Then Monday go for an explore, I particularly want to get to Billy Goats, but other than that, will be playing it by ear, everything is up for discussion and nothing is set in stone when I go away (except the day I have to be home by)

Weather looks good tomorrow and Monday but looks interesting Tuesday, if it gets too bad the trip will get cut short.

Not looking to do anything extreme but always good to be prepared, will definitely need low range, hand held radio at minimum and all terrains tyres. Other than that, as long as you’re self sufficient for a couple of days I’m sure we can have a bit of fun.

Hi Chris,
I recommend going down Conway track. It runs in to Kingwill Bridge from the east. The scenery coming down is amazing and it’s a lovely track.

Thanks for the tip, didn’t see the message until we got back. Though we did go up Randall’s track which junctions Conway and Hibernia.

Quick report.
I didn’t think I’d get any takers for the trip having given such little notice, but we were going either way.

Two vehicles set off, me in the triton and my mate and his 2 kids in a near stock Mazda Bravo (all terrains only).

I have to say, there was only one time we turned around on a track due to vehicle capabilities.. with decent tyres and a confident driver, there were no issues and more than likely he would have got through ok but with kids in the car and limited recovery options we avoided the rocky section on South Basalt Knob track and turned around..
In the wet I have no doubt it would be a much different story.
