With the forecast cold temps and low snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning, thought I'd run a casual snow drive for those that are interested.
We will meet at the Four Pillars Gin Distillery carpark in Healesville as there is another trip running to Strickland Spur that is meeting at Beechworth Bakery. Please be on time as it would be nice to beat the Sunday crowd up there.
Snow forecast down to 700m Saturday and 900m on Sunday.
It will be a nice casual drive from Marysville up the Marysville-Woods Point Rd towards Mt Matlock. Will air down around the snow line. It's an easy drive for the most part so depending on the amount of snow on the ground and the vehicles attending, we will discuss the track up to the top of Mt Matlock on the day as it can be a challenge in the snow. AT tyres are a must as the forecast low snow on Saturday night and the early departure means we could be the first vehicles through. Winch is recommended but not essential. Recovery gear is essential. Will stop for lunch along the way, not anticipating a long day so should be heading home by around 2pm.
Trip rated medium as the unknown amount of snow on the road is the variable. Would be 'Easy' to the base of Matlock in the dry and 'Medium' up to the tower in the dry. Could become medium/hard if we decide to take the track up to tower depending on the amount of snow.
Cheers
Alex
