Thanks Kev. Thats a nice little video of the area. And yes that part after the intersection get pretty hairy. Last time I was there we had to help recover 5 vehicles stuck on that section (It was raining and you might as well be driving on ice).

Ticked off a lot of bucket list items - Sandy Cape beach run, Pieman heads, Balfour, Climies, Montezuma, awesome trip. Catch you up for a campfire chinwag eh as I havent seen you since your lap too. Lotsa stories I hope.
PS- the MWB is gone, funny story, replaced by a mint never-offroad LN106 2.8 diesel (gasp) Hilux. Its on FB if you'll accept my friend request of oh, a year ago lol.

Allison and I have been discussing and we decided to leave Thursday afternoon. This is so we are not dealing with all the traffic and we can get the good camp site (next to the river).

If anyone wants to come with us your are welcome otherwise we can organise a meet at 12 noon at Benambra on Good Friday.

Hi Allan. We may have to go for a small drive but there should be enough wood around for us to collect. If you have a chainsaw and/ or block splitter that would help allot (I will bring mine). I will try and do a wood cut on the Friday at some stage (after set up).

That works just fine with me. I can pull the pin at work any time after 2.30 so depending on your better half i can drive up with you on the Thursday

Hi Jamie. Sounds like a plan. I will drive back out and meet the rest there then. There is a fuel station at Benambra. I would highly suggest everyone top up to the brim with fuel as that is the last fuel we will have for the trip.

Yea sounds like a good idea! We could do a night drive and get a meal as well.

Benambra is nearly 50kms

(Most of it is dirt road but there is maybe 10kms of 4x4 track). Google maps suggest it would take 90 mins but from memory it takes about an hour. I am not sure if there is a pub there. It is only a small town.

Omeo is 65kms away.

Pete, do you know if fuel is available at Benambra on Good Friday, I have checked Omeo and both servos are open.

So Benambra is only open until 4.30 on weekdays and 2.30 on the weekends. They are the only fuel in the area so I would presume they would be opener Easter however I will call them tomorrow and ask. (they are also the general store and post office).

Omeo is open to 5pm weekdays and 1pm Saturday

The next closest 24 hour service station is in Bairnsdale.

I will have 150 litres on board and 2 x 20 litre jerry cans as well if anyone needed any diesel.

Ok so just heard back from Benambra General Store and fuel station. They are open the following times over Easter...

Open Good Friday 8am - 8pm
Saturday 7.30 - 5pm
Sunday 7.30 - 5pm
Monday and Tuesday 8am - 5.30

Please keep in mind they won't be selling any alcohol on Good Friday so please get it before you leave.

Don't forget to bring your favourite dish and cook it up on the camp fire for the Brasserie night on Sunday.

Basic description. Everyone cooks a dish then brings it to a table where everyone shares everyones meals. It is great fun and is a great way to learn new camp food recipes.

HI all.

So far I have got Jamie meeting us in Omeo fuel station on Thursday night and Darren meeting us at the Officer BP, Thursday night. (Have I missed anyone meeting us tomorrow along the route?).

Who will be meeting us at 11am on Good Friday in Benambra?
Who will be meeting us in Camp?

Could I please ask what everyones plans are? Just so I don't loose track of anyone? I'd hate to leave the meeting place and miss someone!

Just FYI. There is no toilets or showers at the camp site. However we have a heat exchanger in the car people can use for a shower and there is a creek.

Eric and Sandra are on the Spirit arriving Thursday morning.Depending upon how they are travelling they might arrange to meet you guys on the way but I won't know for sure until tomorrow. But I'll be leaving either late tomorrow or early Friday morning. I'll be coming from the North with half tub iof firewood.. :)

Great sounds good Wayne. I just spoke to Eric and we are probably meeting him at the BP in officer (east bound). He is going to call me in the morning.

Hey guys unfortunately a very small “o” ring that Was causing a bad fuel leak at an injector and I was unable to get in time will stop me bringing the Jeep, but Andy and I will jump in with Al in the big pig.
