Note: The gathering is from Fri but the actual 4wding will start on Sat early morning. So if you can't make it on Fri, feel free to arrive on Sat morning. Due to some uncertain family circumstance, I may not be able to arrive on Fri. I am hoping some of our members can help secure the camp on Fri.

Guys can we please get a show of hands from you as to which difficulty level of driving you are interested in? We will have Easy, Medium and (very?) Hard as per previous years. The easy category will still be low range driving but doable in stock vehicles. Medium will require a bit of lift and good tyres - ATs at a minimum. Hard will be for experienced drivers with well set up rigs, minimum 33s and one locker. Winch is essential for hard.

I would happily do a medium to easy run. Having been trip leader on a few of them in Tallarook I know a couple of good circuits

32s pretty much twin locked jeep traction control is quiet good and im quiet expereinced but no winch so if gets in a shitty spot might be difficult

Kelvin & Winston, are you going to open up anymore spaces for those who just want to come for the day (Saturday)?.

Reason I ask, is that there is no way Freemans can take the numbers wanting to camp.

Greg, am sure there are a few of us who are interested in joining for just a day. Unless things have changed, Freemans is lucky to cater for 6-8 vehicles, so maybe that is the reason for the restriction.

Am sure Kelvin/Winston will let us know in the next day or so.

Hi all, we have changed the location to Flat Rock Camp which is a large open area which can accommodate 20 cars or even more. However, there won't be any toilets available. You can drive to the nearest camp at Freeman reserve which is 3 mins away. I've attached the Google map on the trip details.

Happy to help out leading or being TEC for a 'easy' or 'medium' trip on the Saturday if needed. Just need to know what time you plan to have drivers briefing etc on the Saturday morning before hitting the tracks, as not sure at this stage if I can make the Friday night camp.

I put up my hand to lead but I know you did heaps of trips there so am happy to be your TEC instead as I only was there once before.

Also I talked to Kelvin and briefing is 8.30 am.. Leaving 9.

Kelvin, all those tracks are fine and of medium standard with the exception of Red Hill. My understanding is that it is permanently closed, but this may have changed now, as last time we went to have a look it had gates at both ends that were locked,(it was in the summer months, not seasonal closure time). I could also add a few more to make an alternative loop so that all groups are not following each other.

BTW, Phone and Steep arent too far from the campground for those who want to try a couple of the 'hard' tracks.

My brother and I are most likely going to be out there that weekend. It is pretty much the only weekend I have off between now and end of the year. Most of the track listed are part of our favourite loop so will try to avoid others as best we can. If any help neede on the day happy to assist. By the way was there leading a trip 2 weeks ago with Thurstain assisting and all above mentioned tracks are good.

Agree Thurstain, all the tracks listed are of 'medium' standard based on a vehicle with little or no modifications. (It does change if wet though). Those with mods, such as big tyres/lifts, lockers etc will find the above mentioned tracks fairly straightforward, but still enjoyable.

Matt, I was about to ask the same question. As I cannot camp on either night, I was about to remove myself from the trip to allow someone else who can camp either one or both nights to join. Understand the limit of 20 vehicles for camping etc, but is it possible to open say 6-8 spots, (even as a separate tagalong trip),for those who wish to attend just for the day. Same details re; must meet at campsite for drivers briefing etc on Sat morning and at the completion of the days driving head back to camp to socialise etc before heading home.

Am happy to lead the 'day group' if Kelvin & Winston are agreeable, as it looks as though there are quite a few members who still want to take part, even if it is just for the day.

Good call Thurstain. Some have already said what nights they are staying, so hopefully everyone else who has already joined the gathering will say if they are camping and for one or both nights. Just makes it easier for Kelvin to keep track.

Hey mate,
I take mine sometimes. As long as they are allowed in the area (which they are), bring them along if you want to. I might bring mine also, but not sure.. they don't seem to really enjoy a day in the car jumping around haha.

Some people bring their dogs also, nobody is gonna tell you no. Just make sure they are not aggressive and dangerous towards people and it should not be an issue.. if they are at least keep them locked in car / on leash.

Updating my group. Andrew dropped out and Stephan joined. Know nearly everyone in the group, with capable cars and drivers we will have a good day and will cover heaps of ground. Lucky we have Winston who knows the area well so we won't run out of tracks 😁

Another unforgettable end of year gathering, in a good way this year, I didn't break the Big Pig and Steve didn't tip his rig over.
After a one year absence I feel 2019 will be a much better year for me so you all will be seeing my ugly head and my awesome NEW Jeep a whole lot more.
Was great to meet new members and here their stories around the camp fire.
Much thanks to our trip leaders and TECs for all your preparation to ensure everything ran smoothly .

Allan, well if you were to take it easy, you would get about 350km out of 85 liters of fuel.
But the problem is, you cant resist sinking the foot to the floor because it sounds so good lol

Yes 98 is all I can use, although it is also on LPG and it is a lot more affordable to drive, however it does use 35ltr per 100km on LPG.
