Dargo to Bright Dash - Take 2 MEDIUM / HARD

Alpine National Park, VIC

See more trips

We'll be slicing the high country in half, taking all the seasonally open trails available to us. The scenery will be incredible, it'll be cold, there will be snow and you will remember the trip. It'll be around 125-150kms of massive mountains between fuel, so you'll need to be prepared. Please arrive friday night if possible so you have a good night sleep and you aren't sick of driving by saturday arvo. We'll be leaving camp around 8.30am Saturday morning. Pack your chainsaw. Inspect your car properly. We should be in Bright in time for a morning coffee Sunday.
Note - this trip will be slightly faster paced than usual because of the distance we need to travel. If you like to drive in second gear at exactly 1500RPM all the time, this won't be your ideal trip. I'm not saying we'll be flying but it's not a leisurely stroll. Mud tyres are recommended.

I have recovery gear but no winch so would this eliminate my eligibility for this trip?

Trip difficulty - didn't post properly and I just realized. Please only come if you're ready for a difficult trip and have the skills to match.

The last time I did this trip someone else was leading and the average speed was 30-40km/h, which was a bit quick. The trip went too fast. The trip distance for saturday is 85 or 110 kms, depending which camp we end up at. Sunday we'll be starting the day on the main dirt road home, so no need to rush; all the hard work will be on saturday.

I am. It's a great camp site down on the river. I'm not sure what time I'll be there cos I might have dinner at the Dargo Pub. I'd be there around 7pm, if anyone is keen to join.

Female only here.... skills to match but no winch,
Surely one of you guys could help me out if I get in trouble lol 😉

Hi ToyotaChick,
Sorry but the trip is full. And I prefer if people have their own winch because it's safer to do self-recovery and people don't damage their car pulling you out.

anyone bringing fire wood chainsaw or anything else we might need
17 Oct 2018
Trip Leader Jason (FauxBogan) Premium Member
I'm bringing a chainsaw but everyone should bring one if they have it. Many hands makes light work and I prefer to share the wear. :)

Yes, me too. I will bring my little chainsaw, and a bag of wood.....
I will come with Zak, may likely to arrive camp 9-10pm....

I've uploaded two .gpx files for the trip. The start point is different but continues on the same path from Talbotville. Upload it to your navies if possible in case you need it.
