Planned for edge of the world look out and stay around cradle mountain for first night. And then head towards Queenstown stay couple nights there maybe base camp it. Then head further south eventually working way to Tasmania.
Any ideas I'm all ears for first couple nights sorted.

I'm sort of thinking Climies, Montezuma, Balfour, Sandy Cape, Mt Huxley as the 'things to do while I'm there'.
These are some of the better tracks so might not suit basecamping.
Thoughts ? I'll have a car on the road by then that I wont mind overly if it gets a dunking or a swim.

Yeah I don't mind balfour was on my list hence why wanted other vehicles to come so can do harder tracks. So don't really have an itinerary for middle part yet.

Would you consider throwing all those tracks in the pot and working an itenerary around it ? I've been to Tasmania twice and it has some great 4x4'ing but its always been solo so didn't do the iconic tracks. Then again my nippers are both in their teens now and probably wont be going it may not suit a young family if you've got really young 'uns.

Had a quick look can cover all that in at least 4 nights depending on track conditions as basically all in same area.

Hey fellas
I went to tasmania this easter for 12 days and it was one of the better trips ive done to date.

We mainly focussed on doing the west coast of tassie as the other areas arent really anything to write home about besides craddle mountain so being all 4wders we focussed on getting out 4wding in and thats it.

We did all the iconic stuf like climbies, balfour, sandy cape etc but our favourite track wpuld have to be lake cumberland.
There were plenty of free camping spots and only spent the last night in a hotel just for a decent shower and a nice counter meal the night before we left.

I will post videos here of our trip to g9ve you guys some ideas. Enjoy

Assuming you're starting from Devonport, I suggest (in order to avoid unecessary back tracking), staying at Cradle Mountain first. You could then head to Edge of the World the next morning (it's almost three hours drive between them). And then you're at the start of the Arthur Pieman beach run.

If you decide on doing the beach or coastal track make sure you're in a convoy, especially if it has been or likely to be wet as it increases chance of quicksand)

Another option is the Western Explorer trail which is 2wd. It'll take you south through to Zeehan. From there you can go on to Queenstown and/or Strahan. You could then head back up towards Derwent Bridge and cut back to Strathgordon or skip it and head straight down to Hobart.

G’day Michael, Possibly could be coming over on the 18/4, but only if there’s a cancellation or spot become available for our return trip by the 10/4. Fingers crossed. I also have a local mate and his young family in tassie who’d would like to come along if it all pans out. 👍
