I am looking to go for a drive in the Mt Dissapointment area and wanting to see if there is any interest out there.


I will be camping in there on the Saturday night and others are welcome to join if they like. I will be at the car park opposite the petrol station in the main street of Wondong on Sunday morning around 08:30 to meet.

Roadworthy cars with decent tyres and recovery gear is recommended. Please note the conditions up there at the moment are variable so bald or near bald tyres will not be good.

please make sure you are self sufficient with food, water and warm clothes etc. (you know the drill).

If you are interested let me know and I will give more info closer to the weekend. By the looks of the participants list we will have a lot of experience with us so if you are in doubt we should be able to guide you through.

That's cool. I am actually going in on the Saturday and staying over night with my son, so may bump into you during the afternoon.
There use to be 2 garages but the one on the west side of the main street (Shell) closed down earlier this year. The other one on the railway side is open and the carpark is opposite that.

Yeh I think that is the one. Just on the bend of the road. I don't remember seeing a Safeway when I was up there last.

Hey Christo, Yeh sorry typo there. It is Wandong and is just north of Heathcote Junction and off the Hume Hwy. I usually head up the Hume and just as you pass the township there is an off ramp to the left for Wandong and then turn left under the freeway bridge and into town about 1 k.
I will try and put a map up for all.
Would be good to see you there mate.

Hi Graeme, we are happy to give anything a go, We often go out to Wombat Forest and are experienced with using winches, snatch straps, shackles et. We have all terrain tyres ( not muddies). Medium too hard sounds good.

Graeme I'm in and look forward to meeting you and all the others, this will be my first time to Mt. Disappointment, I hope there some challenging tracks,I am well set up and can self recover if the need arises.
I can be up there Saturday morning if anyone else wants to meet up early.

You won't be disappointed Al..Mt Disso is an awesome place with some nice view... not as extreme like Cobaw but will get your heart pumping...and good work out for Pig... see u on Sunday....I am sure Graeme will plan well...

Hi Allan, Look forward to meeting you and all the others that have signed on. I think I can find some challenging tracks up there for you. Do you prefer hill climbs or MUD or technical drives? It is all up there you just have to know where to look.

Hey Pal, it's not so bad... in retrospect. :) There's one pinch point we had to build up a tiny bit because of the side angle but it was REALLY fun. I'd definately only go up, not down it. Maybe not something to try in a big group. We can do it together some time soon if you want.

The idea is for a medium to hard trip but we will assess on the day and see what tyres everyone has. No one will be forced to try a track if they don't want to. Also a good chance to see what each car is capable of and what they can put on to make it better.
There are a few tracks that are good for hill climbs and those for mud and sub marining. No stress the weather is supposed to be godd up there this weekend. I am going in on Saturday and stating overnight so hope to have a bit of a look around before hand.
