As Alex's snow trip is unlikely to take place anytime in the near future due to lack of snow, I have decided to head out for a day trip next Saturday to one of my favourite 4wd locations. There is a slight chance that we may see a light dusting of snow near Mt Selma (1470 mtrs), but this is highly unlikely. The trip will be a full day driving a variety of tracks where low range will be required for the majority of the day. Whilst the trip is rated 'medium/hard', most of the tracks will be of medium standard, but if time permits, there are a couple of harder tracks that may be included in the days adventure. Deep Creek tracks and Trig Track are not part of the day as all are seasonal closures. Please DO NOT join or express interest in this trip unless your vehicle meets the following minimum requirements.
TYRES: Minimum of 31" being either aggressive A/T's or mud tyres.
RECOVERY GEAR: All vehicles must have basic gear being snatch strap, shackles etc & rated recovery points.
UHF RADIO: In car or hand held.
WINCH: Preferred but not mandatory.
SNORKEL: Advantageous but if you do not have, please bring a tarp/water blind for potentially high river crossings.
Again, this will be a full day of 4wding so be prepared for a possible late finish. Everyone attending must be self sufficent in regard to food/drinks etc and lunch stop will be only aprox 30 minutes, so do not bring the bbq etc. Rug up with warm clothing as it will be cold. In regards to fuel, last opportunity is Moe, so advisable to top up there. Anticipate the round trip from Moe back to Moe being aprox 200 klms.
As some know, I am somewhat padantic in regard to 'checking in'. If you have not checked in by 9am Friday the 21st, you will be REMOVED from trip, no exceptions, and someone else given the opportunity to attend.
Please be at Erica Pub by 8.45am at the latest as we will leave at 9am sharp after introductions and drivers briefing.
