Gday gents,

Me and 2 mates all interested. 2 x locked Gu & Gq 37s and 1 Gq 33s

Wondering if there's enough space in the convoy?

Also what tracks will we be hitting and if anyone knows if there will be any snow involved?

Cheers

Hi Jason,
Looks like you will have a good turn out on Sunday.
Do you have any tracks in mind already? ...

Also, see if you can get your mates to join up 4WDTRIP and ask them to join here so we know what vehicles they have and their setup.

Looking forward to it.

Not a bad idea. The hand held ones are generally fairly good and not overly expensive. See how you go and I will find mine if you need it.

Thanks Jason, I have done Cemetery long back but I think it's been graded and not like used to be.

I am conscious with the size of the group and different vehicle setup. I am happy to lead the less modified vehicle and make sure this is still an easy/medium trip and let all the big boys to do what they do best :)

For those who have winch, please make sure your winch is in good condition, the tracks will be wet. You can still have 2 days to inspect your vehicles and recovery gear condition.

I think we now have 15+ cars, which is fairly big group already. You may want to consider to set the max. vehicle on this trip. Otherwise, it will be very slow going.

Thanks again for running the trip.

Hi all, see below for your information. Jason, I hope you don't mind I post below. Please feel free to add more stuff if needed.

Things to check (my recommendation)
- Check your winch working AND make sure you bring the winch controller with you.
- Check all your recovery gear
- Check your fan belts, oil level etc. If your vehicle has enough clearance, check underneath and see if anything come lose or leaking.
- Check your spare tyre

Things to bring (my recommendation)
- Food, water
- Handheld CB (if you got one)
- Gumboot (if you got one)
- Spare towel
- Torch (ideally with headtorch)
- First aid kit
- Spare parts (belts, hoses)
- Spare fluid/oil (if you have room, you can get them from major servo)
- Shovel and chainsaw (if you got one)

There is one more thing you may want to consider to fit before the trip. You can easily buy them from Super Cheap Auto or Anaconda. It's called Recovery Hitch. If you have already got a tow bar, you can fit a recovery hitch under 5 mins by yourself. Fit or get one before the trip.

For example:
https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/4wd/recovery/mean-mother-recovery-hitch-shackle/p/90041822

You should NEVER NEVER NEVER use your tow ball for recoveries.

Hi if you have any recovery gear bring that with you but if not thats fine there will be plenty of help around. As kelvin suggested we might split up into two groups one for the easier stuff and one for the more advanced drivers or we can watch the experienced drivers do what they do best, plenty of places to watch them.
we went out a few weeks ago 16 four wheel drives together we didnt go very far but we all had a ball.
we will see you sunday :) cheers jason

Very sorry but I must withdraw from this trip,
Went to get the Big Pig out from behind the gates yesterday afternoon and wouldn't start , got it started of the rear batteries and this morning took it to the auto elects which we found the starter battery has a dead cell , so it drops to only 4 volts with any load which means no winching.
Once again sorry for the late withdrawal hope you all enjoy the mud bath.
Regards Al.

It was a great day to meet everyone today. Thanks for again for running the trip Jason. Although it is a slow going day, I believe some 4wders have learnt alot especially those who have completed the last track of the day. I am glad to see everyone working together to help recoveries.

A few lessons learnt. We really need to cap the size of the trip to no more than 10 vehicles. I have seen too many impatient 4wders would simply walk away if they would have waited so long throughout the day. Luckily our group is awesome with everyonr being patient and easy going.

Looling forward to seeing everyone again soon.
