Clive (clive22) Hi Everyone
Great day out, especially for those who love ruts, rocks, side angles and who can live with some dints and scrapes.
Thanks for Winston for running the trip, great map print out/route location at the start.
Cobaw has seen very little maintenance so the tracks are rutted, rocky and tough with lots of cross axling the granite soil produces deep sharp edged ruts.
Anyone talking the tracks needs great flex and/or a locker/TC or two. People with short travel will be stuck. Bring your chainsaw too.
Lots of fun had by me, had to leave at 4pm for family reasons but still got to drive Alcorn's which has developed into a very tough track now (harder than 3 years ago when I drove it), with deep holes next to rock ledges. I took a line which gave me a scary amount of wheel lift at the big rock shelf near the top, which I'll remember for a while.
Put some photos up which give you some idea, but as is the case with photo's it's they make it look easier than it is.
Cobaw may well be the best place at the moment for hard tracks.
Hope every one got home safe without any real damage, 'cause I heard a quite a few nasty scrapes and bangs over the day.
It was great to see everyone helping out getting others through, you need it up there.
Cheers
Clive
