We will be tackling the harder tracks starting with Rocky Track and doing most of the seasionally closed tracks as they will be reopened, assuming there isn't to much rain leading up to it. Allan Mac is also running a easy/medium trip the same day and we will be meeting during the day for lunch and if anyone wants to swap to do harder or easier tracks.

This trip is not a car breaker but experianced drivers with well set up vehicle is a requirment, if you have been 4wding for a while and want to step it up this will be a good lession in how to get the most out of your car and there will be no rush and plenty of help if needed.

How needed is a winch on this trip? Havnt done toolangi before. Im running 33" simexs and have a heavy foot.

sorry mate given you don't have lockers or traction control a winch is a requirement, a lot of the tracks are clay base and with no traction aid and no lockers you will do massive track damage without a winch. Given the time of year and how wet they will be and I always try to 4wd with the tread lightly ethos I will have to say no this time, hopefully no hard feelings.
Keep your eyes on the trips page because as the weather gets better I will be running plenty of trips in the harder range.

Sorry Tim I want to keep the numbers down so travel time doesn't end up to slow on the hard bits plus I may also pick up a few that want to push their limits a bit from Allan's Toolangi trip after lunch. Keep your eyes on it though as quite often people need to pull out which may open a spot.
Yep it did fill quick, as I said no need to ask on the forum if anyone was interested, more member wanting to join trips than ever...

hey al cheers mate. i was thinking of bringing april with me on yours mate that is why i was originally looking for an easy trip but thats fine she can go to grandmas house for the day.
ive also become allergic to bogholes mate so hopefully i will be able to drive round most of them😉😉

If a spot pops up would their be any chance to take it. My car is set up well and am not afraid to push it. If not it's all good

Sat down with Al yesterday, meeting spot sorted and tracks planned, track list updated. It will be a cracker day, please make sure cars are all checked and with no issues, best tyres on and winches working.
Please make sure we you are at the meeting spot by 9.00 we will be leaving by 9.10 at the latest because we have a bit to get through. See you all at Mk Kenzie Reserve car park

Next time Winston, would have been a great day for you to learn a bit more about the capability of the FJ but you cant do every trip...
Meeting Al after Blowhard or thereabouts and after that it will be see how we go...
Scott, been out with you enough times to know you can steer a car OK, would be great to get the winch sorted but not the end of the world if it doesn't happen

Justin, last time we did Blowhard it had been graded. Still had the 'challenging' bit about half way up; especially if it is wet.

Its no race so who cares who gets where, besides Steve, you have owned a Rangie so you know deep down which is better on the tracks ;-)
I am always happy to compare apples with apples though, daily driver, no lockers and 32's we will see how we all go.
Its going to be a great day, nice and sunny, warm and in the bush, what more could you want !!

CV shaft Al ? Not to expensive and hopefully no other damage !! Save up and put in some heavy duty bits, get them shipped in from over seas and they shouldn't be to much

Hey Matt I done a CV to did you see the pick , Ive got a new one in now I couldnt sleep from the wind so i went out this morning at 6 and wacked it in .
are they your pics, thought Al had put them up, well done to get it replaced so quick.
maybe consider some better quality ones so they don't break, its ok if local on a day trip but imagine doing that way out in the boon docks on a long touring trip...
