Thanks for Brad (in his green suzuki) putting his hands up, he is happy to help lead the second group for our Xmas/EOY 4WDTRIP Member Gathering Trip at Eildon/Rubicon area. Brad is a great trip leader with plenty of 4wd/camping experience.... 

 

This group will camp at The Boys Camp, which can easily fit up to 10 cars.  

 

These campground is very easy to access even with a 2WD and a camper.

Hopefully there will be enough room for a massive group photo. Depends on your preference and availability, you will be allocated to a trip group (Hard, Med, Easy/Touring). For Hard and Medium group, you are required to have a winch fitted, AT/MT tyres and recovery gear.

Hi everyone, I am looking at splitting this group into 2... with one group being medium/hard and the other group being easy/medium.....
I think Brad will be leading the hard group. Does anyone wants to step forward and lead the easy/medium group?

Just a quick update. Please make sure you go to "The Boys Campground". Brad will now take over the trip. Please contact him if you have any questions. Brad will try to plan the drive suitable for everyone. I will try to come over on Fri night to say G'day.
We plan to have a big aerial photo shot on Sunday morning. Our first group will meet up with you all.

There should be fuel in town of Alexandra, which should be about 30 mins away from camp group

You can get fuel from Eildon, it's only 15 mins drive from camp.

Looks like everyone left on this trip has Front and Rear lockers and big tyres... aside from me and Marc.

Not sure how we are going to have Hard and Medium trips with just 6 people. Lots of people dropped out.

If worse comes to worse Marc, I'll take us on an easy trip. I was up there in winter and drove up some easy tracks like Conn Gap track etc in the snow (actual snow probably 3+ inches) by myself. All was sweet. Back then I didn't even have a lift.

I spent $1.6k on Wednesday (yesterday) getting the Nav some new parts that were on their way out like wheel bearings, brake cylinders, new brakes and a transfer case drive shaft replaced and overall check in preparation for some trips I have planned.. so not looking at breaking anything either.

However I been on a trip with Brad before, we did a Medium trip and it was very interesting (deep crossings, mud fun and rocky climbs) and loved every second of it. He is a good trip leader and as I said, worse comes to worse I got maps and basic knowledge of some easy tracks around campground that you and me can have some fun on for a couple hours. We will just have a cruise around and enjoy some camp fire.

Just make sure you bring some recovery gear just in case.

Don't stress guys. Come and have a good time thats what it is all about. None of the tracks we did on the Recce last weekend were extreme. A couple of intresting bit yes but I'll cater for who ever turns up and adjust accordingly. I may run a harder night trip. That way those that don't want any panel damage can stay at camp :)

I don't mind panel damage at all, nor scratching.. that's what the 4wd is for. I just don't want shit snapping on the tracks.

Just an FYI for the others on this trip. I plan on leaving Melbourne tomorrow after work, hopefully not too late. Time permitting I will drop by Kelvin's camp (Cooks Mill Campground) just to say hi & maybe have a quick drink around the camp fire.

I then plan on doing a night drive from Cooks Mill Campground to the Boy Campground at Rubicon. If anyone wants to join me on this please let me know and we can arrange where to meet & other details.

Otherwise I look forward to seeing you all Saturday morning.

We will be heading up after work today not sure what time I will be at camp but aiming for a late dinner.
What do you guys do for a camp fire do we have a big group one?
My chain saw is playing up trying to get it fixed before I go but not looking good, Looking forward to meeting everyone should be a good weekend

Might be pushing to finish by 4pm. Normal finish time for me is 5.30pm. But have gone in early today so we will see.

I will be leaving Melbourne and heading up to Cooks Mill in about an hour. I will meet up with Kelvin and group 1 and then I'll drive up to our camp with you guys on the night run, or head back on the main road and take the easy way. Will see how it goes.

Hopefully we will find some space to fit our rigs and tents. See you all there.
