Matlock area/ Snow Trip (Group 2) MEDIUM

Assuming there is snow, we will play around Matlock and do Corn Hill track etc.....    If there is no snow, we will do a Plan-b and likely head from Matlock toward Woodspoint and up to Lazarinnis onto Knockwood then south along German Spur.  Plan-B will include some challenging tracks so the trip will be upgraded to Medium/Hard.   Otherwise it will be fun in the snow (bring your toboggans) and remain as a Medium trip.   Gary (Poppy G) don't forget your skirt and wig and leave the nail polish at home please (you drive a 79 series now).

Hey Al, If you grab one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190868683257 and the app Torque Pro for $5 you'll be able to diagnose any codes on the fly. It'll also give you heaps of other data on the move, like GPS speed so you don't have to guess what speed you're doing.

Thanks for the invite Tony, but will have to 'pass' on your trip. Was planning to put a trip up on the forum to Cobaw for Sat Aug 1st, as have been invited to go up there next Saturday for a 'look/see' of the area, so cant go 4wding for 3 of the 4 weekend days.

Hope you have a great trip & the 'snow gods' are on your side, but judging from the forecast they are not going to come to the party. Am sure you guys will have a great trip & once again, thanks for the invite.

Thanks for the invite Tony, I have joined this trip but I am in the middle of a suspension upgrade but only half of the parts have arrived, so I may need to pull out of this trip if they don't arrive in time. Just thought I should let you know early instead of pulling out of this trip in the last minute.

Hi Guys. Assuming there is snow, we will play around Mt Matlock, Corn Hill Track, Frenchmans Gap Track .......

Plan B. If no snow, I will revert to Hard Trip (not mega hard). The plan will be the following- Head towrds Woods Point (have not decided which track to Woods Point yet), then take Webber Spur Track (nth east) to the Goulburn river). Cross the river onto Black River Track. Turn left into Lazarini Spur (my rooftop map shows a gate, but i seen no listing for Lazarini in the track closure list). Follow Lazarinin (nth west) to Army track. Trun south sest onto Mansfield Woods Point rad. Then left onto German Spur (heading south). This will take us back to Frenshmans Gap track and Con Hill track and back to Matlock. If anyone can see any issues with this, let me know. Happy for suggested changes to Plan-B. Hopefully there will be plenty of snow and we can keep to Plan-A.

Sorry Tony I thought I had responded to the invite, must have just thought about it. We won't be joining you on this one, have heaps to get sorted before Liza and I head off on our big trip and the leaving date is coming up very quickly. More than likely the Disco will be in the workshop then getting the true trac installed.
If by any chance I do end up with the car and have spare time I will let you know and be a last minute inclusion

Well Tony, as I didnt get to Cobaw last weekend, have got a 'leave pass' and have joined your trip. Have hopefully got all the electrical problems sorted, so hopefully my diff locks & GPS will work on Sunday.

Looked at your Plan 'B' , some nice tracks, such as German Spur & Frenchmans, especially if a little damp. Lazzarini Spur is nothing outstanding but a nice drive. Webber Spur is supposedly closed, but is one of those tracks that still gets driven. I did drive it many years ago & kept us on our toes.

If I can make one suggestion; dont meet at the Marysville Bakery. Traffic/parking will be a nightmare so I would suggest maybe Beechworth Bakery in Healesville as we did this on my recent trip up there and had no problems with parking. Just a thought.

Sorry Tony, its not Webber Spur that is closed, another track that I forget the name of. The Webber/Clarke Spur loop is a good one & just out of the river there is a optional climb that is quite steep. The descent down to the river is a good one as well. Will check my maps.

Let's hope that there is heaps of snow so you can use 'Plan A'.

Yes Al, looking forward to seeing 'the pig' out on the tracks again. Will be Tony's call, but we might be able to persuade him to take a 'detour' on the way back to Marysville, if time permits.

Trip is now full (finally). The plan was always to keep it at no more than 7 vehicles otherwise it slows the trip down.
I will take Allan Macs advice and change the meeting place to Healesville Bakery (rather than Marysville). Will post the exact time tomorrow night.

We will meet at Healesville Bakery. A few of us will be there at 7.30am for breakfast. Trip briefing will be at 8.15am. Leave the bakery at 8.20am sharp. As previously mentioned, it there is no snow, we go to plan-B which will see the trip upgraded to Medium/Hard. Cheers.

Allan, I purchased a complete 3" suspension upgrade with superior engineering radius arms, upper and lower control arms, adjustable panhard rods for front and rear, Dobinson 3" flexi coils with fox shocks.
The shocks, bump stops, brake line extensions have not yet arrived :(
I will have to wait until the next trip to test it out.
