With the expected heavy snowfalls from Saturday afternoon into Sunday, am going to head up to Mt Matlock. It will be a reasonably early start, so hopefully we will get to Mt Matlock before all the 'tourists' arrive and drive in some fresh snow....
. If the conditions are favourable, we will stop at Mt Matlock so the kids, big & small, can have a play in the snow then we will make our way back towards Marysville via Big River. I have a couple of options as to which route we will take after we leave Mt Matlock, and if all goes to plan & time permits, we can drive a few of the 4wd tracks around Big River on our way home.
Trip is rated as 'medium' as we will not be doing any of the harder tracks in the Big River area, but mud tyres are preferred, but not compulsory; NO H/T TYRES. Goes without saying, but all those taking part must have basic recovery gear & UHF radio.
Please ensure you have enough fuel to cover the trip & I would suggest filling up in Healesville as fuel in Marysville can be a 'hit & miss' affair. I expect we will cover aprox 150-200 klms from Healesville & remember a fair portion of this will be in low range 4wd.
