Doing a long weekend trip starting in Omeo. Will be wanting to do (time and weather permitting) Tom groggin track, Davies plain track, cobberas track, McFarlane flat track, deddick track and haunted stream track finishing the trip in dargo. Will be bush camping the whole time so must be self sufficient with food and water. All cars should be in good mechanical order with a full size spare, front and rear recovery points, good off-road tyres, raised suspension, snorkel/car bra and if you don't have a long range tank must have spare fuel.

Hi Antony, I just did the Deddick trail yesterday with work. Top section was washed out by flash flooding a couple of weeks ago. As I wrote this, there is still a Veh stuck in there, driver had to walk out. There are alternate entries from the east, some are "management vehicles only" / locked gates. It would pay to check with DEPI or DELP (as they are this week) before you head off. Still lots of good stuff and bottom 2/3 is in good condition. Cheers, Boots

Hey guys just checked with parks regarding any track closures and Davies plain track is meant to close on the 1st of May but he said due to the lack of poor weather it may stay open a little longer. Just thought I would give you guys a heads up. I will call a week prior to the trip to find out for sure, if it is closed than I might change the itinery slightly

Hi Antony, I also have just done the Deddick Trail. If you are coming from the north you head south on Willis Rd and then west on Bowen Trail. I spoke to DEPI before we went, and while Willis Rd is private, the public are allowed to use it. The detour adds at least an hour, depending on number and capability of vehicles. It was dry when I did it.

Hey Alex I will be going up Thursday night but I'm just waiting until next week to get in touch with parks to see if they are closing certain tracks early as Meeting point may even be dargo if these tracks are closed. I will post up a proper itinery hopefully around Wednesday.

Alright all meeting point will be the campground @ tambo crossing on the great alpine rd, I will be camping here on Thursday night as well. I will be leaving wheelers hill (South East suburbs) around 4pm Thursday or if there are a few of us I can wait and can head up together, can sort this out closer to the date though. Spoke to parks and due to some track closures the route has chopped and changed a bit but hoping to finish the trip @ benambra. will be bringing wood and chainsaw with me but I think it's a good idea that if you have a chainsaw and room for it, bring it. I have put a map of the campground in the photos ( thanks to dave) and josh and Gary, do you guys plan on heading up Thursday night or Friday morning?

Thinking about fuel for the trip, will we be going up the road from camp into Ensay on Friday morning ?, Just looking at having a full tank to start with as I could fiil up in Bruthen Thurs night if they are open , not sure of arrival time at camp though. And as the route has changed, will we be going past or near any other fuel spots?, Do have standard 90l tank and a jerry, do you think Id need more? .

Well all that was wrong with my old one was that my brushes were stuck, I've given them a clean and now I will just swap alternaters. As I said I will get spare brushes tomorow just incase. Worst comes to very worst I have the route pre logged in my hema and hard maps of the whole area and I will just have to pass it on to one of you guys or maybe even jump in the passenger seat of someone, but i will know for sure within an hour, will keep you guys posted, either way I will have to pack and go to the shops tomorow now so probably won't get to camp until 11ish
