Saw a few rescue requests on fb last week on Cockpit - should probably check out the current status.

Tim (Tangles)
Looked like they were alone / without winches. As a group should be all good. You coming along Thurstain?

Not sure on the finer details to be honest, but I do know at least 1 was on 35s GQ that required a recovery, the others not sure. I would love to come along as I'm yet to explore Toolangi - but I have plans with the missus this long weekend.

Last I heard cockpit was uglier than usual..

Trip Leader Matthew (discomatt)
As said it will be a harder than normal Toolangi trip due to weather, hence the driver requirement for experienced drivers.
If Cockpit is going to be nothing but a winch fest we may give it a miss, I don't mind winching if need be but not interested in spending 5 hours getting the group through 400m...

Your call mate, you can steer so no issue from my part but you will spend all day pulling your own winch rope 0-:

That would be because half the 4wders these days couldn't drive a greasy stick up there own ass or are to stupid to know when to say no

Was going to say the same thing Matt; re Cockpit. I suspect it will be much wetter & chewed up since our last visit and like you, not interested in spending the time winching most of the track.

Remember to 'check in' to confirm you are coming. Matt is a bit more lenient then me in regards to this.

Great job trip leading today Matt and great bunch of blokes.
Really good challenging tracks. Sorry I had to skip the last one, had to get home and help out with kids.
Hope u all got thru unscathed(I'm wondering if cockpit was as bad as all the talk)
Thanks again Matt,I'll keep an eye out for your next trip

Cockpit was undriveable for us, so you didnt miss much there. Tim, I hope the mighty ZD lives to see another day! Thanks lads for a great day out!

Thats great new abut your engine Tim, a valuable lesson re bog holes without the massive bill , it took me a couple of years and countless starter motors , liters of diff oil and numerous bushes to learn the same lesson. I never drive bog holes now and don't miss that shit at all...
Cockpit was mental and have never seen it that bad in over 10 years of driving the tracks there, it will either get permanently closed or they will have to grade and dump 20ton of rock in it which will be a shame because its always been one of my favourite tracks up there.
Thanks all for a fun day out with great company

Thanks for a good day out Matt & good to meet some new faces. Big thanks to Ben for his assistance with my 2 metre winch on Lyndalls; am going to have let my tyre pressures down more, as I always struggle on that track. Hats off to Bryce for coming all the way from Bairnsdale; a huge effort.

Yes, Cockpit was a mess, as was Aeroplane but not unexpected. Another dent in the Paj, so now even on both sides of the car.

Which tracks did you guys hit? How were they?

Sounds like cockpit has been ruined for anything but monster trucks now..

Thanks all, a good day on the tracks. Will eventually sort out my footage, have a backlog of two other trips to do first :).
