Grampians Easter 2017

Forum > Your Trip Report & Experience

Just got back from Grampians and thought I might post a quick report for anyone considering this over Easter.

Trip was Thursday 13 April and covered about 10 tracks, circumnavigating the Grampians NP, and about 160klms.

Trip started in the Southern end at Dunkeld, entering the NP via Bullawin Rd, where the dirt started. Where Bullawin Rd meets Glenelg River Rd we went counterclockwise covering:

Glenelg River Rd>Harrops track to Buandik Campground;

Red Rock Rd>Lodge Rd>back to Glenelg River Rd to Boreang Campground;

Phillip Island track>Rose Creek Rd>Glenelg River Rd to Strachans Campground

and finally exit via Bullima Rd back to Dunkeld

All tracks were easy/medium and we hardly saw more than a bath full of water all day. I was expecting it to be still wet from that rain last week, but a ranger told me that they only had about 21mm and that it drains very well. So pretty easy 4WD, perfect for beginners.

Lots of wallabies, kangaroos, emus and 1 tortoise.

A really nice day away from city life.

For those who have Hema maps app, I have posted the tracks online and this is agreat way to follow the tracks with ease and know exactly where you are.

Some tracks are still closed (Wallaby Rocks track which I have put online was closed)

Check out the Parks Vic website for the latest Grampians NP road report.

Enjoy, stay safe.

Tony
