Guest 4wd is expensive, no doubt about it. But it absolutely reflects in the quality of work and service you get.

their knowledge not only about 4x4s but also about 4wding in every corner of Australia is just priceless.

I ......

Agree 100% with Andre re Guest. Took care of my 20yrs old Pajero and now have my GU Patrol with them. They are honest and up front about what they think your  vehicle requires and you decide how much of it you get done. We had a never ending list with the Pajero but it also never let us down.

Good luck with who ever you choose

I have recently started to use Guests in Fairfield.

For the last two logbook services I have rung my local Toyota dealer for a quote, been a little stunned at the price,  then had the servicing done at Guests who have been considerably cheaper. My Prado for a lot of its life was a work car and it is amazing how dear toyota are once you lose corporate fleet rates.

Guests gave the best price on new Cooper tires about two years ago, and six months ago a really good price on rear Bilstein Shockers.

Cheers

I'm going to be the devils advocate here.

If you trust your local Toyota dealer, stick with him. No one knows Toyota's better than a Toyota dealer.

Just call first and get a price then shop it around. If he wants to do extra work, shop that as well. You are the customer and you hold all the power. Just stay in control of each situation. The only way people get ripped off is that they allow a dealer to do things prior to asking. You do not have to pay if they don't ask you first.

At the very least, get the major services done by them and all the insidentals done by other.

Good luck. 😊👍

I would agree (theory) and disagree (reality) on that one.

At the end Toyota dealership follows ONE company process to fit ALL customers, you get the type of service that fits the average customer regardless if that is a fit for your circumstances.

I've been once at a Toyota dealer when I was looking at buying my 79series ute - and never again do I go to a Toyota dealer, they had no idea about 4wding (being told "the tyres are made for offroading, do not listen to people who say air down" was the moment I left the shop)! They sell 1000 Corollas for each 79series.

A good way to test a 4WD mechanic: call them asking for advice saying you do medium offroad/touring and then have a mate call asking for advice regards same mod but for "weekend play", if they try to sell you the same stuff - stay away.

Good luck

Andre

A bit further away maybe, but I wholeheartedly endorse Bay Rd 4WD Centre in Cheltenham.

No bullshit, good work, happy to even fit customer supplied gear, 4WD nuts, the bloke Jared who runs it is a deadset legend

Totally agree with you, just saying not a lot of reputable workshops out there.

I can only recommend you the 4x4 specialists I used though they may be a bit too far from you. Anyhow here they are:

  1. Bay Rd 4WD Center (Cheltenham) - Talk to Jared
  2. AUS4WD (Bayswater) - Talk to Sandy
  3. 1st Class Auto Electrics
