Hi Thomas. Not sure what vehicle you have (would suggest maybe filling in your profile on the site- Let people get know who you are, and your vehicle and you will get far more replies and help). With your fan issue, I would take it to a service dealer, as it maybe something as simple as the fan blade to close to the shroud. It is unlikely upgrading the whole unit is necessary. Perhaps you could find someone with he same vehicle and year and listen to their fan. If theirs is quieter, then you know something needs repair. Good luck.
