Can any body recomond a 2 inch lift kit for navara stx d40?  opinions on what to get and what not to get please

Don't skimp. Old Man Emu or EFS are good brands to consider. Make sure you get your steering geometry checked after installation as you will start chewing out tyres real quick smart.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

I have just put full Tough Dog kit in my 06 Hilux 6 weeks ago. Extremely dissapointed. Very harsh ride and problems with rear springs already. I spoke to Tough Dog at recent Explore Australia show in Melbourne and I am dissapointed to say the Rep showed zero interest in my problems. Unfortunately I feel I have completely wasted my money. I am considering changing springs already. I now think tough dog are rubbish.  Will likely go EFS next time. Also strongly advise going to a suspension specialist rather than a general retail outlet. What state are you in ?

I have an Ultimate kit fitted to my Challenger, very happy with that. I drove a Challenger a few weeks ago fitted with Bilsteins and King springs, this is a costly kit but the ride and handling was excellent. Ultimate suspension get details of your vehicle load, use etc before a kit is recommended.

I have had OME in the past on a Cruiser and found it was too firm with the dealer recommended springs, so went with a lighter King spring in the end.

Also have had Koni and King springs on a Range Rover with out any dramas, but again very costly setup.

Hi

On my previous car a 2006 STX I had a Old Man Emu, it worked fine. What you realy need, is some underbody protection, Radiator, engine and if Auto, cover that as well.

I put a tough dog kit on my Explorer very disappointed with them and the after sales  back up.  I went back to OME for my new Ranger and very happy after just coming back from the Simmo.  Performed really well and great service from the guys at ARB.   No vibration issues, still drives like a sports car on the road and soaks up the bumps off road.   BTW they have a $250 promotion going at the moment as well.

Amazing. Eight replies so far and three of them (including myself) recommended staying away from tough dog. I have had other people on trips come up and talk to me about their experience with tough dog and their dissatisfaction. Where there is smoke there is fire. I am very surprised that Opposite Lock recommend tough dog suspension. My next suspension will be purchased through a suspension specialist to make sure I get the right advice on the package I need ( including exact spring rates) for the type of 4WDing I do. Don't make the mistake of going too hard.

I used Dobinsons Springs and suspensions for my Navara. 2" lift with medium rate springs in the rear (constant 500kg rated load). The car handles really well and no rear end chatter across corrugations. The front handles well but could do with a little extra body lift. I have been to the Cape via OTT and recently over the Simpson Desert to the 3 corners, Poepple, Haddon and Cameron. Highly recommend them.

You can't go past old man emu. Fitted to my prado. No problems at all. Great performance. But like one of the other members said. Get a front end wheel alignment after installation. A must.
