I like to take the blacktop down to Healsville and take Don Rd then on to Donna Buang Rd C505 till you get to the start of the Acheron Way at the Rainforest Gallery. Follow this pretty trail all the way to Marysville for lunch at the Bakery. Then T/L at the junction to C508 towards Buxton for a few km before T/R (signposted) on to Mount Margaret Road and then Blue Range Rd. till you get to Rubicon Rd T/L for Thornton then T/R for Eildon on the Goulburn Valley Hwy. Mostly easy dirt track but I did get some light pin striping from a fallen tree on Acheron Way where there is also some single file stops for bush portable traffic lights due to wash aways.
