Forum > 4WD Tracks & Destinations

Has anyone seen the Staircase on Speculation road to Lake Cobbler in recent times, I'm interestred in it's current condition and experience level required to travel it. Words of wisdome and or Video footage would be great. I can't seem to find any thing on it anywhere...

Found this but its a bit old Grumpy

Heading there early march mate will let you know if we get there on my trip.

Did The Staircase in April last year. Ranger with 2 inch lift, 32 inch BFG KO2s, 26 psi. Used the rear locker a few times, was by myself so extra cautious. Careful wheel placement was key, as the name suggests there a few ledges and step ups. Slow and steady. Also a couple of trees across sections of the track which I could just get around. In the conditon it was in 12 months ago if travelling alone I'd suggest dry conditons, lift, decent ATs and a winch. Hand saw or chainsaw just in case. There are no areas to turn around easily if you can't pass an obstacle.  I put a couple of dings in factory low hanging side steps, good excuse to upgrade them to steel ones.

Cheers
