Brisbane to Melbourne

G'day all,

Will be driving Brisbane to Melbourne (and then onto Cape Otway) for Christmas/new years. The partner and I are looking to drive down over about 4/5 days around the coast, and then back up the middle on the way home over 2/3 days (sleep level dependent)

Wondering if there are any decent 4wd detours on either direction, especially on the way down as we have more time. Our basic route as it stands is Brisbane - Queens Lake/Laurieton for a night - Somewhere around Batemans Bay for a night - Somewhere around Lakes Entrance (near Lake Tyers) for a night - Quick stop in Melbourne for final food/fuel/water for the week, then out to Otway.

This split basically keeps our driving hours between 5-7.5 a day, so we have time to spare to go and look at stuff on the side.

Will be taking the partners stock 2008 120 Prado GXL, and only basic recovery gear. She needs the car to be working fine, but some scrapes and bruises arnt too much of a drama.

Thanks in advance.
