Lake Buffalo Whitfield Road

Forum > 4WD Tracks & Destinations

Hey Guys

Just chasing some information with regard to the Lake Buffalo Whitfield Road west to east.  Just the standard questions, open, trafficable, water crossings, going, areas to avoid etc.

Cheers

Geoff

2wd makes it easy on a dry day (although there is a sign half way saying 4wd only). Drove it in Winter end of June. Easy drive if you avoid pot holes.

It was open, didnt see any other cars, no water crossings that I saw (unless creeks were dry etc). If you have a ute, you'll be fine.. it's just a dirt rd.

From there I went around the lake (bitumen) and went on Goldie Spur track (through private property, close gate behind you) on the border of mt buffalo.. excellent views, nice climb. some tight turns but easy enough with decent tyres.. I'd allow couple hours from whitfield to porepunkah just to take a nice drive.
