Due to another planned trip not working out I figured that I would make my own last minute , and perhaps others might like to join.
I am planning to take a fairly cruisy 3 night trip through the Alpine National Park from Stratford in East Gippsland to Bright in the ovens Valley. I am not planning to take any crazy tracks, but it pays to be prepared. This is a 3 night trip and you will be required to carry enough fuel, food and water for the entire trip. Decent tyres and a proper spare with all recovery gear is essential.
Thursday 3rd
Plan to meet at the Stratford BP where you can top off your fuel and pick up any last minute items you may require. Plan is to get to the Pinnacles in time for sunset and perhaps dinner then find a spot to camp, perhaps horseyard flats.
Friday 4th
Due to the high forecasted temps I suggest an early start and get driving early an set up camp after completing Zeka Spur near the wonnangatta river
Saturday 5th
I am not particularly familiar with the tracks and camping locations north of Wonnangatta station, so I am thinking we just see how the day goes. I would ideally like to get close to Bright so that Sunday morning we can get into town, fuel up for the drive home and maybe hit a Cafe for some coffee.
