3 day trip out in the Victorian High Country. Saturday till Monday. At this stage I have a trip idea but thats not locked in. Happy to discuss the itinerary with people coming along and make it subject to the vehicles attending. This is my rough plan:
Saturday, meet at 9.00 AM at the BP in Mansfield.
Drive towards Jamieson, Mitchells track to Sheepyard, brocks rd, Bluff hut, Lovicks, King Billy. There's a nice camp spot up there, no facilities. Subject to time we can keep moving.
Sunday: Zeka Spur, Wonnangatta. Depending on time (and condition, anyone who recently done it?) maybe Billy Goat.
Some people may choose to leave Sunday from Dargo. I'm hoping that most people joining will join for the full trip though.
Monday will depend on where we end up sunday night. Fill the day in the area, or finish getting to Licola before heading home.
If we decide we want to do Butcher Country or Caledonia, or both, happy to do them. I'm not sure what condition they're in. Happy to take advice.
It'll be a rolling camp, so be self sufficient for the entire trip. I'm mountain biking in Mt Buller on Friday, so I don't need to drive up from Melbourne. Happy to negotiate a different start/meet time. Maximum 8 cars, it'll be busy out there so it'll probably be a compact camp. 2" lift minimum and good AT's.
As mentioned, happy to be flexible with the itinerary subject to vehicles, timelines and wishes. I'd like a relaxed trip where we can have a bit of fun, a good brekky before moving in the morning and plenty of time for drinks and dinner at night. Only thing that can throw a spanner in the works is extreme fire danger, but that won't be known till closer to the date.
This is the first time i'm organising a trip on this site, I've run local trips before on other sites. I'm more than happy to take advice on the trip from participants and non participants.
Thanks, Dutchy
