Update 26 Nov 2017
*************************************************
Hi all, due to the large number of this xmas gathering, please see below and make sure you understand and agree with them. If you have any questions, please contact me privately.
-
All confirmed members have been assigned to your designated group. Please see below and find your team name.
-
I will need someone to be the trip leader for Group B (Medium group). If you are keen, please contact me.
-
Due to the large turn out, we will start the trips following below scehdule.
-
Briefing (gathering around the picnic tables area) - 8.00am
-
Group A (Extreme) - 8.30am
-
Group D (Medium) - 8.45am
-
Group B (Hard) - 9.00am
-
Group C (Medium) - 9.15am
-
-
All vehicles will be aired down, recovery gear checked and ready to roll at your starting point.
-
All vehicles in Group A and B will have your vehicle, winch and recovery gear checked before the trip commence. All winches will use winch rope. No winch cable will be allowed in these group.
-
4WDTRIP Team has driven most of the named tracks in the area (70%). However, Mt Cole is still a new area to many of us so there will some risk and unknown factors so make sure you are prepared for this.
-
Drink-driving is strictly prohibited on this trip. If you are found to be drinking during the trip, you will be kindly asked to leave the group. Yes, I know it's hard in the hot day but due to safety reasons, we have to be strict on this one, sorry.
-
All recoveries have to be performed safely. If you are in doubt, stop and ask.
-
No hoon, rectless driving and loud music.
-
Please take your rubbish home. Mt Cole is a beautiful and clean area and I want to keep it this way.
-
Please be considerate when setting up your camp. Do not take up too much space. Although it's a reasonable size campground, there won't be much room left to fit 40+ cars.
-
If you are one of the experienced trip leaders on 4WDTRIP, please come forward to assist and coordinate if possible. Thank you.
-
Safety first! Think and be calm if there is any unexpected event.
-
Finally, work as a team and help each other.
Another year has passed by at the blink of an eye! It seems like only yesterday when we all gathered at the Cathedral Ranges for our last Xmas gathering!
This year takes us to an amazing location that we have explored this year - MT COLE!
Many of you will have seen the footage from the trips that have been run out there this year - it's an amazingly beautiful forest with everything on offer from EASY to EXTREME.
We will once again be running several convoys to cater for all levels of driving. There are some fantastic scenic tracks that look out over the valley below and across the forest.
Chinaman's Campground is huge - and free - and has toilets and a large undercover hut for eating etc. We will be setting up camp on Friday night for those that can make it (only 2 and a bit hours drive from Melbourne), otherwise if you can't get there till Saturday morning please be at the campgrounds by 8.00AM sharp for a greeting and briefing for the day's drive ahead.
When you join, if you can please post in the discussion section which level of trip you would like to be a part of. EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, EXTREME.
Sunday will be a relaxed day with the option to go for drives if you like, however a group photo will happen at around 10am.
Looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces alike.

**** Just to clarify the ratings - easy will be pretty much all high range driving with a couple of low range sections that may be a little steep or loose.
Medium will be basically all low range with a few challenging sections but a stock 4wd will make it through fine.
Hard will be very challenging - winch is a must, and you need to be very experienced to tackle the tracks along with have plenty of clearance and top notch tyres. Lockers are recommended.
Extreme will be the next step up and only for highly experienced drivers with highly modified vehicles. The chance of vehicle damage is a real possibility. Lockers essential. ****
Requirement
- Electric Winch
- Recovery Gear
