Planning a 2 night trip in October, will involve some night driving on the Friday night after work to get to Woods Point for an evening camp at either Comet or Scotties - so have Friday munchies before departing Warburton or as we drive, there will be no formal dinner stop on the way once we leave. Pizza and the like is available at Warburton or Fish and Chips (recommended) at the Log Cabin in Launching Place etc if eating beforehand. Bitumen and gravel roads on Friday night only, set up camp .
Saturday morning after a Leisurely (with a capital 'L') start we'll make our way out of camp via Old Coach and Webber Spur and up Abbot Link Track, then head over to Mt Selma, and down Champion Spur turn right on to Black River then via Lazarini and either German Spur or the main drag, time dependant, back to camp for chow and a few BYO's around the fire .
Sunday, break camp and exit via Frenchmans or Dearlove with a lunch stop somewhwere on our way back to Big River before airing up and home. Will be back at Warburton early afternoon dependant on how we pull up Sunday morning after those BYO's......
You must have enough fuel for 2 full days driving, food and supplies, although Woods Point has a pub plus limited stock at the general store/post office, I prefer self sufficency just in case.
A comfy swag or tent, working GPS, standard recovery gear, good tyres (either A/T's or M/T's) plus low range - no SUV's - and an inch or two of lift are required. Winch is not a necessity but this is not a beginners trip - 'must' have some time in the seat experience as Saturday is a big day on the tracks with ground to cover including some steep-ish hills so driver experience is required. Its great terrain and lots of views throught the day.
If its wet weather trip will be cancelled I'm not keen on huddling around a wet wood fire nor sliding down to Abbot Link !
