The snow season has been very average this year but there has been some good falls recently and the next reasonable dump is forecast from Thursday Aug 17th down to 1100 mtrs for a few days. We had a trip up to Mt Selma a few weeks ago and were fortunate enough to see some 'white stuff' and if the forecast is correct, I expect to see more this time.
As well as driving in snow, we will also be driving some of the good tracks in the Walhalla area on route to Mt Selma. Most of the tracks are of medium standard, but there a couple, Fultons for example, that can be on the hard side especially if wet so trip standard is rated 'Medium/Hard'. If you wish to take part in this trip, you and your vehicle must have the following minimum requirements;
Tyres: 32" either aggressive A/T's or M/Ts. (no H/T tyres).
Suspension/body lift: Not mandatory, but advantageous.
Winch: Preferred.
Recovery Gear: All vehicles must have the basics; snatch strap, shackles, rated recovery points etc.
Snorkle: Whilst preferable, if you dont have one please bring a tarp/water blind for river crossings.
UHF Radio: Mandatory, either in car or hand held.
This will be a big day of 4wding. Please be at Erica Pub by 9.15am at the latest for a 9.30am departure. Ensure you have suitable warm clothing as it is possible that we may encounter blizzard conditions. Be self sufficent with lunch/drinks as we will stop somewhere for a 30 minute lunch break. Plan is to be 'airing up' by 5pm to make our way home and if anyone is keen, we can stop at the Erica Pub for a counter meal before heading home.
Last available fuel is in Moe so advisable to top up your tanks there. Total distance from Moe back to Moe will be aprox 200 klms with low range required on a large percentage of the tracks we are driving.
;CHECKING IN'. ALL participants MUST check in by 1.00pm on Friday the 18th. If not checked in by this time, you will be removed from trip.

PS: If anyone has a chainsaw, please bring it along. It is possible that there may be strong winds on the day, so best to have a couple handy in the event of fallen trees.
