We will fillup, stock up and head to Walhalla. Instead of heading straight to Walhalla, we will make a detour and enter Walhalla via Coopers Creek Track and Brunton Bridge Rd. There will be a few river crossings which are usually easy to cross. Depends on the time, we will continue on and head north. Depends on the first few tracks, I will assess if we will tackle the infamous Deep Creek No.1 Track. This track can be hard to some as there will be very steep decent and ascent. In some sections, they are very rocky and require careful wheel placement. Once we have completed Deep Creek Track, we will head to O'tooles Campground. There will be a few steep tracks and river crossings along the way. Again, they should be relatively easy.
On Sunday, we will head back to Walhalla area and do a few mine exploration. We can visit a few point of interests, depends on the group's preference. I plan to finish Sunday before 3pm in Walhalla.
With the outlook of the weather, the tracks will be wet and muddies. I have set the difficuties level to Medium. Make sure your winch are in good condition, and your vehicle is in good shape. If you don't have snorkel fitted, we will assess the river crossing and decide whether it would be safe to cross.
Hopefully it will be an fun and interesting weekend that help you build up your 4wding confidence and gain valuable experience. I am looking forward to meeting you all. Please ask any questions you may have.
Now you have completed a few beginner and easy trips. Time to get serious and understand more about intermediate 4wding.
I am going to run a 4WD Trip aiming to provide more information and share my experience on some of the common 4WDing techniques. Some of the areas wil include steep hillclimb and descent, river crossing, rock crawling and recovery techniques such as snatching and winching.
You will be driving in a real world environment so be prepared the track and weather conditions may change.
More details will be provided closer to the date.
