Myself & my 8 year old son are heading to Tassie. I've already booked the departure & return on the Spirit of Tasmania. Departing Melb Sunday 13/12/2015 7.30pm, arrive Devonport 14/12/2015 6am. Return Devonport Wednesday 23/12/15 9pm, arrive Melb 24/12/15 6am.
Book your own travel arrangements for these dates on the Spirit of Tasmania website if your interested. There is still plenty of time.
I want to try & keep this to a family orientated trip & take the kids to certain places as we go that will entertain them as well. If your not family orientated & wish to do seperate things during the day, thats perfectly fine, please just be meaning full & remember that there will be kids around at camp.
This trip is not purely bassed on 4wding alone, (but will incurr some great tracks & camping areas). I wish to do some sight seeing & visit certain places along the way. Time will always be a factor, so much to see in such little time.
My basic plan so far, once off the ship travel down the centre towards Hobart. Spend about 3 days/nights down there. Places i wish to visit are ZooDoo wildlife park, Port Authur & Tahune Airwalk. Open for other options to see & visit as well.
After that, start heading up the iconic west coast & plan day by day as we go, pending on weather conditions & veheicle set ups & time. Just play it as we go. Once again still plenty of time to plan if we wish to visit/see or do certain tracks.
A little about me. No experience of Tassie at all. I do have 20+ years experince of 4wding, camping etc. I currently have a Nissan Patrol, well set up for touring & getting out there, very self serfient. I'm going regardless if anyone comes with me or not.
If you have a basic set up 4wd with all recovery equipment & family orientated, still feel free to come along.
