Bunyip/Gembrook, VIC

Just going for a bit of a play and explore at Bunyip/Gembrook if anyone is keen. Not looking at anything too challenging as dont plan on any panel damage.

Own recovery gear essential, bring lunch.

Hi Gav, not sure what tracks you have in mind but if you want to find out tracks info and find some easier tracks, try to contact Rob
http://www.4wdtrip.com.au/member/19

He knows the area well.
There are tracks I would try to avoid.... such as Anderson, Little Bunyip, Western..... all these tracks are definitely medium+

Hope Rob can give you better info.

Hi Kelvin,

I will be borrowing my mates snatch straps. Was it you that said I could borrow a hand held radio for this trip?

Thanks for organizing.

I am brand new to 4WD, what exactly do you mean when you say recovery gear required?

Stealing Kelvins comments:

I would highly recommend you to get your own recover gear (you can even get them from Super Cheap Auto) if you don't have any.
They are essential for any 4wders, and it's for your own safety.
Snatch strap
A few D shackles
Gloves
UHF Radio (even just a handheld)
First-aid kit
Additional item I would suggested:
Compressor (to pump up your tyres)
Deflator (to air-down your tyres)
I would not recommend any highway tyres. You really do need A/T tyres as a minimal as the tracks are getting wet and slippery now.
I am hoping to organise a beginner trip in mid of May.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Kelvin, this helps a lot. I don't have any recovery gear yet, but more importantly, just realised that my Jeep Cherokee limited doesn't come with any recovery points! The tyres are not A/T (Dueler HP Sport more suited for highway) and the spare is not the same tyre and size (but am told rolling profile is same). I know that I will be restricted to easy/medium tracks and this is fine for me. New to 4WD but learning fast!
