After meeting up at Wallan we will be heading up to the BP service station in Mansfield, this will be our last fuel stop. Extra fuel would be a great safety measure. For those who wish to meet at Mansfield instead of Wallan, we expect to arrive at Mansifeld BP service station at 8-8:30pm. We will meet everyone there.
From the BP we will be heading up toTabacco Flat/ Frys Flat via Howqua Hills Road and Red Hill Track for the night, so expect a late night.
Then on Saturday morning we have a choice of numerous tracks, which I would love your opinions on.
Choice 1
Head down Howqua Track and Steiners Road to Mitchells Track, Mount Spur, Mount Sunday Road, Low Saddle Road to Jamieson Hut.
Choice 2
Head across Howqua Hills Track to Sheepyard Flat, and down Brooks Road to Jamieson Hut.
With both choices ending at Jamieson hut we would then travel via the Refrigerator Gap Track and Bluff link to Bluff Hut.
From here we will then head to Lovicks Hut for some lunch.
Then we will venture out onto King Billy Track, which I have always come across trees across the track (So anyone with a chainsaw make sure you pack it, I have one, but some times one is not enough). We will head down Zeka Spur to Wonnangatta Station, One of Victorias Prime 4WD and hiking destinations.
On Sunday we will be heading out across Wonnangatta track. If time allows us we can explore some tracks like
- Van Dammes Track
- Rileys Creek track
- Humffray River Track
and the list goes on.
Before hitting Abbeyard Road towords Wangaratta.
