Running a beginners/easy weekend away for those new to 4x4ing or for anyone with lesser experience. A good chance to dust off that 4xr4 or to get that first or second trip under your belt and build confidence in both your rig and your driving skills.
Plan to meet up opposite the Warburton Shell servo at 7.30pm then convoy up to Snowy Road camp about an hour out of Warburton.
Stay there Friday night, then travel over to Woods Point Saturday, all on well formed tracks, set up camp at Scott’s Reserve then get some of the obligatory photos of you and your truck at the iconic Woods Point servo. (No fuel there though the servo closed many years ago)
Sunday morning travel through the upper reaches of the Thompson Dam catchment area, view the diversion tunnel (nice spot for a swim) then troop up to the Woods Point road and home via gravel road and the Cumberland Junction.
You will need low range so no SUV’s please !
You must have a snatch strap, shackles ,and rated recovery points though. Preferably also a winch dampening blanket too. Standard tyres will be fine.
Not expecting to get stuck anywhere as this is a well known route but ‘be prepared’ as they say.
So food and fuel for 2 nights and 2 days, a full tank of fuel from Warburton will be enough.
Pace will be comfortable for anyone new to 4x4ing this is NOT a test your rig and ego weekend.
Look forward to seeing you, although no pets or young kids under 12 please.
Any questions please ask.
Prefer to keep spots open for those who haven’t done this trip but an experienced Tail End Charlie would be great.
