Winter Weekend- Misty Mountain- Merricumbene Firetrail- Bendethera Campground MEDIUM

Deua NP, NSW, NSW

See more trips

Meet at Nelligan Boat Ramp @ 8.30 for coffee and hit the road 9am Saturday morning, travel up the Kings HWY to Misty Mtn Track, Will be airing down here and then following Misty Mountain firetrail south to Larry’s Mountain rd and then onto Coondella firetrail finishing at Bendethera Campground for Saturday afternoon campfire and drinks and we can plan Sundays drive

Note: Sunday is open to suggestions and change, otherwise am thinking maybe a run up Dampier Mtn to Dampier trig (it’s a pretty steep and fun climb up there) and maybe then follow Minuma Mtn firetrail to Wybean Caves for lunch, then back to Batemans Bay via Majors Creek and Monga Mtn Trail.

Let me know if anyone can bring a chainsaw!

Regards

Hi Fellas,
I’ve just uploaded a map of the projected route on the Saturday. Black line is Misty Mtn firetrail (will be going Nth to Sth, then take the Red line Sth and then follow the Blue line to the pink marker at the end of the red route (which is Bendethera Campground.

Hi Troy

Just checking if there would be any issues with towing an off-road camper trailer?

Paul.

Hi Paul,
I’ve not done Misty Mountain Firetrail before but believe difficulty is about 3/5. Basically I reckon you should be ok (barring the Track being wet from recent rain, just keep an eye on the weather a few days leading up to the weekend!
Note: there may be a YouTube clip of a previous crowd who recorded their trip down Misty Mtn

You will have no trouble towing along misty mountain, but you will have troubles towing up Ouella creek fire trail, there is some steep hills along there and a very steep loose down hill selection (did it last weekend) you would want a good setup.
Also Merricumbene is off limits to trailers and fines are issued.
The only way into Bendethra with a trailer, is from Moruya, I looked in to it as I wanted to tow mine through there.
Looks like a good trip 👍heading out now to have a look around that area
