Tallarook Sunday Outing EASY / MEDIUM

Tallarook, VIC

See more trips

This trip is aimed at those with little to some 4wd experience. The tracks I am thinking are able to be done on all terrain tyres easily. most likely highway terrains as well. They are also able to be done on stock height vehicles, but am happy to spot people on tracks if required.

Tracks will include but not be limited to some of the Jenkins tracks. Some of the Tehans tracks. Most likely Rocky and Caddell with a few detours in between. Am also considering Mountain Track. A winch would be good but most likely not needed. I have one if really necessary, but recovery gear is always recommended. Will be a lunch stop during the day and photo/video opportunities as well. Please also remember that daylight savings starts this weekend so be aware of that for the start time, however I will always allow 10 to 15 minutes just in case. Hope to see you out there!

I have minimal 4WD'ing experience, do you think this would be suitable/appropriate to join in on?

Depends on the itinerary that the trip leader has in store.

Having said that, Tallarook is a great place for beginners especially when it is dry. It has a good mix of easy, easy-moderate, and moderate tracks where you can gain experience/confidence.

There are a few moderate-hard, and a couple of hard-extreme tracks suitable for experienced drivers with modified vehicles. Phone track and Steep track are two examples that spring to mind so avoid these if you are new to 4WDing.

Yes absolutely. I have done a few trips for people with little to no experience before. This would be a great opportunity for you to find out what both you, and your vehicle are capable of. And I daresay there will be a mixed bunch of people with different levels of experience to learn from.

Hi Greg,
First trip with this site, have done some limited driving with friends before which includes Tallarook once. Looking forward to having another look around.
Cheers

Great, sounds good. As long as you expect to hear the simplest of questions from me e.g. what gear, low or high range, spot me, then I'll see you Sunday 10am.

Y, I went on a trip with Greg a few weeks back, and had never done 4WD before. Totally stock vehicle, and had a ball. Did stuff at the end of the day, I never thought I would.

Do it.

Will be our first 4WD trip as part of this group.

Have a pretty stock vehicle but have got to push it to its limits already. Will have a full set of recovery gear but only a manual winch
