Rough itinerary is: Meet up at Moe 9am, head up (40mins drive) to Walhalla and head for Army Track to meet up with and follow along Donnelly Creek Track which should be a bit interesting (river crossing). From there, explore the NP and check out any of the tracks we see along the way. The suggestion has been made that we might not have time on the day for Burgoyne and Cobb Spur Tracks but I reckon we could head east and exit the NP through Burgoyne. That'll put us on the road back from Licola about 4-5pm where we can leave and head back to town. Some of us might be heading back into the NP to find a campsite and stay overnight (I would like to... I'm not sure that'll happen yet, but it's an option. Let me know in the comments if you want to camp the night). No obligation to camp - it's officially still a day trip only.

Meet at the Shell servo at the north end of Moe. (search for Moe North Shell in Google Maps)

How much time do you plan on staying in national park, as I'd like to bring my dogs?

Hope you get a few takers for your trip Tim, I think you are a little ambitious trying to include Burgoynes & Cobb Spur on a daytrip, and if you do plan to drive Burgoynes, I would be changing your trip rating up to the next level.

I would be more inclined to stay in the Walhalla area as there are plenty of tracks, such as Fultons, Army, Flat and One Speck that will keep you and the group occupied for a full day. Just my thoughts.

I just noticed it's only a day trip. I finish nightshift the morning of the trip. I think I will cancel.

Sorry

Thanks for the advice Allan, I hadn't considered that those tracks might take that long, makes sense, we can easily skip Burgoyne and Cobb.

I would definitely be keen on making it an overnighter... What do you guys think? Anyone not wanting to stay the night could easily just come for the day

I'd like to stay out overnight for a camp so I can do Cobb Spur and Burgoyne Tracks. Would you be keen to join? I have some mates coming who I think will just be along for the day trip so you'd be accommodated either way.

Having never been there it's hard to get an idea of how well a plan is going to work out. I'm happy to for you guys to take the lead and make suggestions on the day... Hence why I haven't provided a really solid plan of attack :) I've got Hema so we can keep an eye on our progress and the time and play it by ear. I'm sure it'll be an awesome day regardless!

I know the area pretty well, I will have a look at the map tonight and make a few suggestions if that helps.

Might be worth running it in the opposite direction Tim. That way you are getting closer to home as the day goes. People can peel off if they have to- once your on the Burgoyne end there's not really many options of escape. Just an idea and it gets the longest haul - to the Licola end out of the way. Just an idea ! Plus if anyone breaks down as the day goes on you're still closer to home that you were, if you know what I mean.
Anyway haver a great trip :-)

Bugger.... I've missed out! Any chance of including me in this trip? Working nights at the moment so haven't been in the loop as to what has been going on in the discussions. If I am allowed to tag along, I would love to to an overnighter.

Hey Tim, had a quick look at the map, some tracks that are not to far away from each other and will be a little bit challenging would be to start at Beardmores near the dam wall, the track starts with a nice river crossing then a nice little steep section, then at the end of the track you could head to Fultons Track which is just around the corner, this track has a mixture of river crossings and nice hill climbs, track finishes near Army track. From there O tooles camping ground which is not far for a look for those staying overnight to who may want to camp there. Just some suggestions for you mate. Plenty of tracks around to keep us busy for the day

Sounds grouse mate, looks like we have a solid plan happening. Those campsites are all pretty close to the main road so it'll be a good place to part ways with the guys just out for the day trip.

Thanks all for coming on the weekend! Despite a couple of hiccups the trip was enjoyable, although I don't think I've ever been so exhausted. Apologies for not sticking around for the second day of driving. Big thanks to Aruna for the chicken curry which I think we all loved :) It was great to meet you guys and I'm looking forward to the next trip. Cheers Tim

Trina (TrinaH)
Thanks heaps Tim for organising and leading us so well through a few challenges. We drove with Nino on Saturday and then by ourselves for most of Sunday and found some awesome tracks. Of the ones we did, Fultons Creek Track off Army Mid track was good - we did Burgoynes and found "Nino's spectacular and secret campsite" by the Macalister.

Thanks Nino for the fire on Friday night and joining us Saturday and part of Sunday. Thanks Aruna for the biryani - it was fabulous after such a long day.

Robert & Anthony - I hope you both got home safely and that repairs are not too costly.

It was a great weekend and we are already looking forward to the next adventure.

Trina & Peter

Hi guys, words can’t fill in on how much i am gratefull with all the support and encouragement you gave me on thst time. Never regretted joining the group. Hoepfully next time will be a better one. My 60 is at the moment on a jack stand getting ready for a full rebuild on its rear diff housing hub to hub. Peter and trina thanks very much for the help on that night i know it was risky but you chose to stay and supported me till the campground. Tim you are a born leader. I know all the tensions you are hiding was not easy but you managed to stay composed and put aside any negstives you can possibly throw in. So thank you very much. Aruna and the girls who are such very accomodating to my parents a lot of thanks . My mum now is at ease whenever i go out doing what we do best in the bush. She now knows that we will never be left alone and there is always help will come with co 4wders whenever one is in trouble. By the way i met with my uncle just where we tim aruna and myself parted. We drove to erica and then we orgsnized a tow from there. Took us a while to get one due to most tow companies are declining as it was footy day. Consequently we had to wait for the footy to nearly finish before we found one. Got home at roughly 7pm that day but i was so tired to sleep all day the next day and just created this message today. Again thank you very much to each one of you.. you are all awesome...kind regards robert

Thx Tim for organising the trip. Unfortunately there were a few issues but the great people more than made up for it. Hopefully Robert and Anthony got home safe and repairs weren't too dear. I tagged along with Trina and Peter on Saturday and camped on the McAllister river after doing burgoyne tk. Sunday saw us continue on burgoyne tk, through the river, up through to the main road, where I said goodbye and headed home.
Thanks again to all and hopefully we can catch up again
