We will be meeting in Warburton opposite the snowview service station at 8.30 AM its an early start for a Sunday but I want to make the most out of the day. We will head through the reefton spur then down big river rd. Before hitting the tracks we will air down at Stockmans reard then proceed onto the tracks. We will take in Ely, Shortcut 1 then onto Corn Hill. The snow is expected to be down to 1000M overnight so there should be plenty of fresh snow along Corn Hill on route to Mt Matlock. I wont make to many trip plans as it depends on the amount of snow that we get. I am aiming to be on the way home around 3.30 PM. There will be plenty of time for snow play but I would like to do as much driving on tracks as possible. I will rate the trip Medium only due to the unknown amount of snow. There are some challenging sections for those that want to have some fun along the way. I would suggest at a minimum all terains would be ideal and every vehicle must have recovery gear.

Hey Julia. Legally you do not need to carry chains as this area is not within the alpine resort area. If you have chains at home cant hurt to pack them but I personally wouldn't hire them. I've done a similar trip last year and didn't require chains and snow depth was 1/3 our wheel height

Hi Jamie, I have done a bit off-roading in Gippsland on mudroads, but always together with someone (group of cars). Also done a one-day training with Mountaintopexperience, but never have been driving by myself in the snow.
Thanks Julia can you give me a call to discuss please on 0411 466 424.

Cheers

Haha me too... very impressed with what the car can do even with no mods rather than A/T tyres.

Hi mate its ok nothing serious it snakes through old logging areas then a few descents into snowy rd. It sure bets that road. We did a few tracks after Nigel left us a stock mans so was a good alternative to the road.

HI Nigel,

We probably drove for another 45 Minutes. We did two other ones but I would have to have a look at the map. We came back put on Big river road just up from Stock mans.

Nigel,

1st track where you left us was little creek track, then right into Morris track which took us to big river road.

Great tracks and a good way to end the day. Kids had a blast!! Thanks again Jamie.
