Planning a trip up to Licola to do a loop I did last year. Will do Mt Margaret track, Chromite mine and B1 on Saturday.. depending how we are going for time we might camp along the way or back down on the river. Might check out some other tracks on Sunday morning if there is time. Im not into smashing my car - these tracks shouldn't be too hard but will be obviously dependent on the weather. Might be some pinstriping. Please come prepared for a cold night and bring full recovery gear and at least AT tyres. Cheers Brett

I'm tempted as I did those tracks (except Mt Margaret) with Kelvin last year when my navara was completely stock as a rock... Would be awesome to do them again now... The car is heaps more capable!

But unfortunately I have to work Saturday. If work gets cancelled and there's a spot I'll definitely join!!

Hey Brett, Thanks for posting a good sounding trip. Any concerns if I bring my 6yo? He pretty tame and loves his camping.

Cheers

Fine with me mate ... last time I did this loop we were out for a long time and I was glad I didn't have my kids with me.. but the group was too big and there was a lot of waiting around. If he's happy in the car for most of the day, all good

Oh ok, so. I'm guessing that the loose rocky bit that lead to that awesome view!! Memory is a bit murky, been over a year now.

Nice area. Would love to go again if I can get out of work.. Hopefully won't take us till midnight to reach camp lol.

We did that loop a little while ago, but started at Burgoyne Track (after coming up from the Macalister). The track has been graded up to where the MVO track goes off to the Razorback walking track (it might be finished now), from then on it it was like usual and somewhat overgrown. The track to Mt Margaret looked to be graded all the way, so there shouldn't be pinstriping along that part.

Mt Margaret isn't much now (did it two weekends ago). B1 was OK on our last trip in Apr (our trip report is here: https://australianimage.com.au/the-high-country-apr-2017/) and there's a great camping site at the Chromite Mine. Go to Neilson Crag on Doolans Plains Road, if you get the chance, as long as the road isn't blocked by snow, otherwise you can have some fun in the snow around Tamboritha.

Hi Spence, no there's a couple of us know each other but not everyone. Most trips tend to have a few cancellations at the last minute so keep your eye on the trip and jump on if a spot opens up. Cheers Brett

Hey Brett, Looking forward to it. Just a quick question, every one else seems to have some pretty decent lift kits and tyres compared to my BT-50 (only 1" lift) and got the standard Dunlop AT 22's that came with it. You see any issues with that set-up for this weekend considering the rain?
Cheers

G'day mate, I don't have a big lift in the 100 series and I've done this loop no worries, you should be fine for clearance with a small lift.. as for tyres, it's mostly rocky/shaley with some steep parts, it depends if its wet. Could be slippery. With a winch I'd say you should be right but that's your call.

I checked them last week and they were fine. Last weekend they sounded fine so beats me! This weekend my aim is for a big camp fire. Last weekend we saw a crew use a leaf blower on theirs to create a mini bonfire! #Ineedoneofthose
