Hopefully I don't jynx the weather forecast but finally it looks like we might be getting our first big dump this snow season!!!

After reading the post on the Overnight Swag And Snow Trip"Hopefully Alex is ok with me saying this, but he has commitments next weekend, so we are looking at running the trip the following weekend", I figured I will run my own trip this weekend.

Earlier in the year I did some exploring up around Omeo, found some interesting tracks and drove past the Dogs Grave camp site, which sits at about 1200m, told myself I had to come back when there was snow.

Anyway so my plan is to drive up to Dogs Grave on Friday night after work and then just take things as they come. Probably head to the Omeo Pub for a meal at some stage over the weekend. Might even drive up to Hotham and hit the slopes for a few hours. Or build a minuture bush fire and get merry :)

If it works out, I'll try and meet others on the way to Omeo and create a convey otherwise I'll just meet you at the campsite. If people want to turn up on Saturday morning that's fine by me also.

Hope you get a bit of the white stuff Brad. Just watch for seasonal closures and as that area is bit more remote than our trip distance wise make sure everyone's prepared in case it turns into ;stuck in the snow'. Part of the reason we're going to head to Terrible is we have the have the hut for refuge !

The tracks I am thinking of were not gated or seasonally closed from memory.
There is a sweet, nearly brand new hut at Dogs Grave, pot belly stove/heater and all.

I know it will be fun trip with the company going, very sorry I have to work Fri Sat this week. I know someone will have jelly shots to keep you all warm. Yeah as Alex says take care up there. Pot belly stove sounds like a good idea for the hut.

Hey Brad, how strict are you on the term of "experienced" drivers? I've done a little bit ( nothing hard ), I know how to turn a wheel, and I know how to take direction when needed. Even tho the missus don't think so, I do have common sense also!!!! Cheers

If you're still there Saturday night i might end up seeing you at the same campsite.
A few mates (5 vehicles) are planning on staying there that night.
Hope you're right about the snow

Hi Rob, that is a default message from our system when the trip is listed as a Medium trip. "For experienced drivers. You may tackle some tracks with moderate steep and/or rocky/slippery/sandy track sections."

By the look at your truck setup, you'll be right.

Hi Brad, looking forward to the trip and meeting some new like minded people. I will be leaving the city mid afternoon tomorrow so don't know how that will work out for a convoy or possible meeting spot? At worst I reckon I might be at Dargo right on dinner time :)

Yeah I won't be getting away that early unfortunately. Probably be leaving the city at about 4pm. Feel free to get the fire going and the billy boiled for me haha.

I hadn't put much thought into it at all but your thinking it will be quicker to go via Dargo instead of the Great Alpine Rd???

I hadn't put much thought into it either, I have now asked google maps and it's saying Great Alpine Rd from the south ie. Bruthen, swifts creek etc. Which will probably much easy in the dark, less track more road. So will go that way too.
