Bummer, always good to head out with you pal...
If you or anyone else could help out with the logistics it would be great.

If you or any other experienced members could throw some hard tracks my way I will find them on the hema so we can start a trip itenary.

Best of luck with your sons tournament.
We will catch you on the next one

You need to use a GPX compatible apps (Hema, Mud-map, Memory map) or device. What app are you using?

I domt have anything like that on my phone as I normally use my hema (has upgraded maps on it) so generally use that.

May need to find a free app for phone which may allow me to open

Hi Richard
You seem to have a rear locked patrol and judging by your feedback seem to be able to hold your own.
If you got recovery gear and some time away from the family then youre more than welcomed to come along and have a play mate... will be great to meet you.

I have a hema with added soft ware which gives me 1:50 1:100 1:150 as well as the standard maps...
I should be right but I think I should catch up with you to check out your itenary

Hi Gary,
Georgie here,
Thank you for joining 4wdtrip.
This is a great place to meet like minded individuals and head out on some awesome trips...

I have noticed that This is the first trip you have decided to join on 4wd trip an hope that it will not be your last.

Unfortunately, due to the minimum 1 locker requirements and it being your first trip with the forum, i advise you rethink the option and perhaps look at joining one of the many others which will come up in the not too distant future.

A couple of weeks ago we had some other members head there in A twin locked fj , who might I add is a very experienced driver and suffered vehicle damage on the tracks we're hoping to do.

Please read the below information as stated on my post and I hope we can see you on another one some time soon.

"Hard - For very experienced drivers with very capable 4WDs. You may tackle some very difficult tracks with frequent very steep and/or rocky/slippery/sandy track and/or deep river crossing sections. IMPORTANT: Vehicle damange may occur. Please make sure you are prepared for this.

Please ensure your vehicle and you are up for the task.
1 locker required as a minimum and recovery gear and winch."

I feel rude and hate to do this. But I would much prefer to be safe and know that the vehicles joining my trip have the right set up.

Open diffs and 31s unfortunately does notnmeet the set up requirements on my hard trips and or the tracks I plan on tackling...

Apologies
Georgie

Hey Georgie, I was about to post a comment here to point out that this trip is for very well setup vehicles. We are not discrimate for any less modified 4wd. We all started from stock vehicles. We understand that you think you can drive further than you think. However, safety is no.1 priority for 4WDTRIP (and for any trips), joining a HARD trip is not for everyone.
I was the second car in the last Mt Cole trip and the tracks are HARD over there. Unless you prepare for wrecking your car or potential rollover, it is wise to NOT joining this trip. I am currently running a few easy trips in the next few weeks, please keep an eye out.
Thank you for understanding.

No worries George
Your the leader so it is your call.
I have 16 years driving in the army, have more clearance with 31's (actually 31 1/2) because the FJ starts off with better clearance. It has standard rear diff lock. I do "hard" drives often, spending much of the time on "hard" tracks towing my camper as well.
I have not found a track it does not drive as yet. But of course there are a few dents here & there now.
Was hoping I might actually get to use the winch this weekend. Never mind.
Enjoy,
I will continue to drive solo, see you out there somewhere.
All the best
Gary

Hey Gary - I was the trip leader on the last trip to Mt Cole. Twin locked FJ, 4" lift on 33 muds. I broke a steering link and spent 4.5 hrs winching and a huge amount of money getting a steering rack delivered to the top of the mountain to install. On the first track. Which I'm pretty sure will be the same first track George does.

I'm not considering doing this drive again until after tax return comes and I've dropped another 8 or so grand on the fj on further mods. They are awesome vehicles but this trip really needs an "Extreme " rating if we had one. In the past year I've done most of the hardest tracks within day trip distance to Melbourne including Ellis, Alcorns, Woods Lookout etc and this was the hardest and scariest of them all for me. The IFS just kills us on this sort of terrain.

It's not a slight on your driving ability, it's just a safety measure as to why George is making this call.

-Dented sills from pushed in SLIDERS
-Beads blown off there tyres
-Rock SLIDERS bent to the extent that drivers door won't open
-Diff mount cradle cracked causing moment on front axle

These are a few of the things that went wrong on some vehicles.

Mt Cole makes Ellis track look like a children's playground...
My new favourite go too 4wd destination....

Trip report to come from Winston!
Stay tuned
