*** Update 20 June ***
-
Self Sufficient - Make sure you are self sufficient for at least 2 days. We will likely travel around 200 - 250km on unsealed road. Please make sure you bring enough fuel with you. The last place to fill up would be Dargo General Store. They open at 8am. We will fill up before we hit the track on Sat morning.
-
From weather forecast, there may be shower on the weekend. It will be cold, down to 9. Depending on the track condition, we may not do Mt Kent if the track is too wet. If that's the case, we will explore the surrounding area instead.
*** Update 13 June ***
- 23th June (Fri) - For those who would like to camp on Fri night, we will camp at Italian Flat Camp north of Dargo.
- 24th June (Sat)
-
Early morning start at 8am (Yes, we will hit the road at 8am sharp).
-
Italian Flat Camp -> Dargo -> Conway Tk -> Billy Goat Bluff Tk -> Pinnacles (aiming to arrive before 10am)
-
Pinnacles -> Mt Kent (aiming to arrive at the bottom of Mt Kent by 12pm)
-
Mt Kent is a one way track lead to a helipad. The track is relatively overgrown so prepare for some pinstripe.
-
The last 500 meters is where the things get challenging (and interesting). It was a steep, rocky climb with deep ruts.
-
Since it's a one-way track, it means that you will need to turn around once you reached to the top.
-
I could only get up the first 20 meters on my last trip but we were running out of time so decided to come back another day.
-
For those who do not wish to attempt, you can turn around and back to a spot where we can meet (I will let you know where on that day).
-
IF the tracks are wet, we may decide to explore Mount Dawson next to Mt Kent.
-
Mt Dawson (Only if we can't do Mt Kent)
-
There is another deadend track/rd called "Shanity Hollow Road" leading to Mt Dawson. From the map, it is right next to Moroka Gorge so hopefully there will be a good view from there. I have never done this track before so I don't know what to expect. We will assess and decide.
-
Mt Kent -> Horseyard Flat Camp
-
Depending on the time we arrive. If we arrive early, we can try a track called "Cromwell Knob Track" which starts at Horseyard Flat Camp. This track will lead us back to Moroka Road so we can loop back to camp. This track is short, around 10km.
- 25th June (Sun)
-
Horseyard Flat Camp -> Moroko Hut (5 mins walk)
-
Moroko Hut -> Old Moroka Road -> Avon Tk -> Lower Block Tk
-
Finish at Newry (near Heyfield)
* This trip is for Sat and Sunday * I will likely camp at Dargo on Friday night, the 23 June. You can camp on Friday or arrive on Sat morning.
I will be running a trip to Billy Goat Bluff. There will be a few challenges along the way.
Currently I set this as medium trip. Depending on the weather condition, this could be medium/hard trip if it's wet on that weekend.
Requirement
