Ellis Track 4x4 Adventure (Ellis Challenge) HARD

Ellis Track, it is considered one of the hardest tracks in Victoria, Australia.

 

Big rock, off-camber hill climb, mud, deep rut... 

 

It's a short track but it requires technical driving, experience and a very capable 4WD. It's most suitable for experienced 4wders and should not attempt if  you are inexperienced. 

 

It's located at Warbuton/Wesburn. Most of the hard sections will have chicken tracks around them. 

 

I will have an early start of the day. 

 

Depending on the group, I may run it as an Ellis Challenge (based on points). The challenge will require careful line picking, track building, technical driving and team work. Last but not least,  you have to have nerves of steel to complete the track and challenge. 

 

To give you an idea what to expect, see video below from my last trip. 

 

 

For this trip, I will limit this trip to 6 cars only. 

 

Note: Your vehicle has to be registered and fully insured (compensive or 3rd party). Sorry, no P Plate on this trip. 

 

Minimum requirement of your vehicles is

  1. 33" MT with at least 2" suspension lift
  2. Lockers or Traction Control
  3. Electric Winch
  4. Rock sliders / underguard are HIGHLY recommended

If possible, find yourself a navi (aka winch bitch) who can help you run your winch and spot for you if needed.

    What a great track iv done it 3 times and every time iv done it its in different condition but all ways bloody hard good luck have fun.

    Might want to concider that every car should have someone to run rope... gets tiring running rope for multiple cars.. especially if everyone is taking the fun lines

    Hi All. I will be coming on the trip and riding with Kelvin. My main interest is to do some filming including some aerial shots from the quad copter. I would also like to swap my Go-pro camera around in the vehicles (if OK with the Driver). The plan is to put a good YouTube video together.
    Once the trip completes late Saturday, I am looking at camping out on Sat night somewhere at the top of Ellis track (I'll take the chicken run up). If anyone else is interested in camping out that night, let me know. Cheers.- Tony

    Most of the parts will have chicken tracks.... I went there in Dec with Jamie last year.

    As the name suggests it's the first large rock you encounter, most take the chicken track to the left. The rock doesn't look like much but the only line is to drag your side up and over it. Pic is in the link above... Before the chicken track this was the only way and if you couldn't make the rock you turned around and went home...

    Even the chicken tracks need a very capable driver and vehicle, can't wait even though I am a passenger again it is still a blast. One day I will have a separate work car so then I will definitely put Ellis at the top of the must do list to see how far I can get before the winch comes out

    Gents, the time has finally come. Say hello to "Ellis". Please make sure you arrive a bit early so you can pre your vehicle and air down. I aim at hitting the track at 8:30-8:45 am. Please triple check your winch and all recover gear.
