Hi All

This trip will be a family friendly trip I will make it as Hard or as easy as people want it. (if people choose to do some harder tracks im more than happy to go the easy way around things and meet the cars on the other side)
We will be meeting in Lancefield at 9am and after a brief chat will plan to be on our way by about 9.20am
Will try and do a lot of different tracks during the day so please make sure you have lunch with you.and are self sufficient with recovery gear etc.

if I get the 4runner back on the road in time I will be 100 % coming , if not im still in two minds if I should bring the patrol out to cobaw as I know there can be some big rocks around and I have no rock bars as yet on it .

Hi mate

Come join us you wont be a burden. I took a pretty stock colorado out there a few weeks ago they did well. If there is somthing either you cant do or not comftable doing theres always a way around. Im just trying to make this a fun day were everyone can meet new people and challange them selfs as much as you want.

Yes, I think the best thing about Cobaw is that there are always easy tracks around it and they are relatively short so it's easy to meet on the other side..... can't wait !!!!

Question with recovery gear? I have snatch, bloc, tree trunk protector, hand winch etc, etc..... Just not a motorized winch on the front. For this trip, is this acceptable as recovery gear seeing that the trip is medium and in a group? Or would you only accept vehicles with front mounted winches?

Enought winches there to help you out if not i will make sure i bring a chair to watch you use your
Hand winch. ;). Just kidding
If you need to winch and want to use the hand winch again im sure people will get
In and help you
Just make sure you have rated recovery points and a snatch strap and bow shackles.

I would never use hand winch again unless it's die or live situation. Last time when the Mansfield cop came to rescue us, we had to use hand winch as their electric winch on their 4wd did not work...it was BLOODY hard work...the best part of it....my mate slipped the handle bar of the winch and he accidentally punched the cop on his face.......

@ironpipe, I've only been there twice so don't think I know there well. However, if nobody knows there well enough except you, I am happy to lead the second group. I will modify the "Member list" page to show the vehicles details so that we can work out how to separate the groups. I also suggest we assign a call sign to each vehicle (e.g. Number 1 - Number 16) instead of using nickname/username/firstname. this way, you know who's in front of you and who's behind you. I doubt everyone will remember other's name once we hit the tracks..... Any suggestions are welcome guys........

Between myself and the tail end charlie im happy just so i know
How far yhe group is spreed out.
Normally if i have beginners or ppl who are less confidant
I would prefer that they come behind me just incase they need some help in any way

Please feel free to ask any question relating to the trip or if there are
Any particular tracks you want to do. Speak up and we can try and fulfill your wish

Thanks Henk, I am sure we'll be alright. If we do break it into 2 groups, I am happy to lead the second group (unless anyone wants to do so). We can assign the tail end charlie (TEC), the last car in the convoy to a more experienced driver. Although we may not move fast, we should have good time tackling the tracks and enjoy the trip. Looking forward to it :)

Hi DutchDuo, can you get your friends to join our site so that they can be added to the list (They will click the Join the Trip button). Otherwise, it's hard to manage and we may end up having 50+ cars coming to the trip. It also allows the organiser to know the vehicle details. We don't mind to have more joining our trip. At some point, we will declare the trip is full.

Actually this trip was set to "Maximum 10" allowed vehicles. So the trip is FULL unless the organiser "Henk" update the trip and set higher Max. allowed. Henk, do you want to leave it as "Trip FULL" or change the setting?

Henk, what do you think if we can classified the experience based on the year of 4wding? .....If you think it will help, I will modify the system to ask everyone to put down their year of 4wding experience.... that way, you can group cars (1-5 years, 5-10 years and 10+ years).

No worries Henk. If we don't get enough response from the group, we can simply work out the group based on the tyre size and the spec of their 4wds from the Member List. Thanks for running the trip!....Can't wait.....It will be a good test for my new front locker :)

Hi everyone, our Cobaw is only 2 days away. Make sure you have a pre-trip inspection (checking), things like checking your fan belts, oil level, leakage, any loosen nuts, cracked brake line etc, and please MAKE SURE you check your winch and see if it is working at all. If you have not replied with your 4WD experience (e.g. < 1 year, 1-5 years, 5-10 years or 10+ years), please respond ASAP. If you have changed your mind, please WITHDRAW from the trip so that others can join. Thanks everyone and see you all on Sunday. A big thank you to Henk who organise the trip :)

Hi All

Just got home from a fun day in the Cobaws and all i will say is i have never seen it so wet out there.

Some of the tracks are a little bit slippery but all doable

I had 4 cars with me and 2 of them were stock standard cars with all terrains and 2" lifts and were more than capable of doing all the tracks we went on

Only had to back track once.

So tomorrow should be a good day for all.

One thing i will ask that everyone MUST be prepared to air down other wise you wont be joining us (Yes it might sound a bit harsh but will make doing all the tracks so much easier)
Also please have as minimum a snatch strap and shackles handy in your car just incase you need to be snatched out.

No doubt for those who would like to try there winches out im sure you will have an opportunity to do that aswell

The meeting time is 9am and i'm planning to leave no later than 9.20am so if your running late thats fine just please give me a call so i know to wait
