So the point of this trip is for Keith to test his trailer on river crossings.  

Merringtons campground has 3-4 river crossings so keith can test the trailer on saturday.

Merringtons campsite is a large camping ground, with drop toilets.  

 

On Sunday we will tackle some harder tracks without the camper Army track, and trig track being just 2 of them,  

We will be leaving frankston at about 6pm on Friday, and expext to arrive at 9:30-10pm 

Or you can meet us either saturday or Sunday

      Hi Steve, We are looking forward to going out with a new bunch of people.
      Just a quick Question: will we be leaving our tents at Merringtons? or camping in a different spot each night? Just wondering which tent to bring.

      And will you guys have a spot at the camp ground where we can recognize you, coloured flag on aerial or something so we know it's you....as we don't have a clue what anyone looks like or you with us.

      No we are base camping at merringtons this trip.
      I will be camping in Luxury in my Jayco eagle, Louis will have a Jayco swan. Keith has his camper trailer. Although that may be packed up and louis may not be there yet..

      I will be hoping to leave frankston on Friday at 6pm and stopping at the servo on the freeway near Officer should be there about 6:30. The one with the Macca's KFC and other food places. Also I will have my handheld radio on so you could contact us on

      We have Friday off, so we were thinking of going up to be there by Mid afternoon on fri. We have never camped at Merringtons before so not sure how busy it gets over a long weekend. Hopefully not like Granny's flat in Jamey that's just crazy!
      So if we get there before you, we will try to pick a spot that can take 3 camper/ caravans and anyone else tenting apart from us? What channel do you use?

      Hi Rebecca (and Co :))....That would be good if you can get up midday Friday.....we'll be leaving Sth east melb by about 6:30-7:00pm and arriving around 9:30-10pm

      Keep some spots open for at least 2 caravans (wusses LOL) and a camper trailer (slightly less wussy LOL)
      It may be you that will need a flag so we can find you.

      As Steve said, we'll be base camping at Merringtons the whole weekend... the Saturday is basically testing me and my Camper going through river crossings After that we'll be doing some tuff tracks. if by Monday I feel I can take the trailer up some of these tuff tracks then we'll be doing that.

      We will be on Channel 13 on the CB.
      I (and Bel [Pee-J]) look forward to meeting you and the others we haven't met yet.

      Have most of you guys done Army Track? ....looks awesome!

      We noticed a few of you have diff locks. We don't have diff locks, and have only dreamed of doing Army track. Hope we don't hold you guys up? Gordon (hubby) thinks we may not get up without diff locks, that's what we bring recovery gear for!!! Right?? :-P

      Will Bel be going up Army track in her 4by? we'll stick together Bel :-P

      BTW I added another photo to my page....it's Super Chook!!! He goes where no chook has gone before, he rides into the face of danger on the bullbar...LOL

      My son Ben will be uop about 3:30 on friday, he will be in a mitsubishi magna, with a few of huis freinds. Same Idea, grab a good camping spot.

      As for army track, I did that 6-7 years ago when the car wouldn't stay in first. I had 7 passangers no lift, no lockers, it got most of the way up, but couldn't get up the step with all the passangers. So when they got out it got up it just fine. So don't worry about not having a cheat switch, you should get up army track as long as it is fairly dry.

      Hi Beck!

      Yes I'll be taking my little 4by and no I don't have lockers either so don't worry. I do find though that I have to think a bit on the harder tracks, where some of the boys just flick a switch and go for it lol! Yes let's stick together so we can bounce of one another if need be (ideas I mean!) I saw your pics and I just luv Super Chook lol! Am looking forward to meeting you guys and having a few adventures and some laughs (at the blokes!) this weekend! :D

      Ok we'll probably get there around the same time or if we get our shit together a bit before lunch.
      Last time we went to McAlister Gorge we had a quick looksy in the camp ground on the way out, definitely nice and roomy!

      We'll be in a Red 80 series Toyota with a Yellow Super Chook on the bullbar! LOL

      We have nice new BF's on the car so will be lots of fun, can't wait :-)

      We'll be leaving around lunch time. I think we are reserving spots for 4 glamper trailers and our tent and not sure if that is it?
      Super Chook has a new cape, we'll be wearing sunglasses and a reserve tank of fuel, so we are go to go!!

      Got home in one piece. The Dif held out luckily, we were leaking oil all the way home though.

      Had a fantastic time thanks to everyone :-) I'll sift through the photos & Vids and post some up.

      I hope Steve got home OK, we last saw him sitting on the side of the road with pieces of transfer casing and a poodle of oil!

      Hey Steve, does your 90 Series have a centre diff lock button in the cabin (like my 80 Series), that you left locked once you were on the black top? Just thinking what may have caused your transfer case to explode and maybe it was something like transmission wind up.

      No it has a gear stick with 2wd, 4wd, neutral and 4 low. The transfer case was making noises as we came up merringtons track. Was still in low range to make it easier to pull up the caravan. It was making knocking noises along the way. Then it must of jammed and that is where it stopped, on the hill. I couldn't even roll down backwards, and when Keith pulled me forward, the transfer case exploded. I would of had to have it repaired anyway, But now it was a replace, not a fix.
