Snow Trip - Woods Point/Walhalla MEDIUM / HARD

The long range weather report is predicting good snow fall next weekend so I am planning to run a weekend snow trip.

We will meet at Erica, head up towards Thompson Dam, do a few tracks whilst making our way over towards Mt Useful and then to Mt Selma.

I will be staying the night at the Woods Point pub with my wife. The publican said that there will be vacancies for other members of the trip but they are unsure how many they can cater for at this stage. If you would like to stay there, I suggest you ring them asap to secure your room. If people don't want to stay there the night but still want to come for the Sunday tracks, they can stay at the camp ground not far out of town. On Sunday we will head to Mt Matlock and have a play around there. Sunday wont be a big day and hope to be back at dam wall to air up around 1pm. This area can be challenging with snow so a well setup vehicle is needed, with good tyres and a working winch is a must.

No worries cheers Matt. Yeh filled really quick. Looking like its going a be an interesting trip will be good to catch up with everyone. Looking forward to it already. Good bunch of people coming along, should be a few decent challenges especially with the rain and snow forecast.

Nice work Al. Yeh looking at forecast I think we r in for a fair bit of snow and rain on the track as we make our way through the bush to mount useful. Think we all might be in for a challenging weekend. Cannot wait.

With temps. Getting down to 1degree overnight us with diesels should be thinking about an additive.
I don't know much about this, just thinking out loud.
Also I'm thinking a Bob sled race down the main street in Woods Point Sunday morning.

Alpine diesel only works if you fill the tank, not sure what additives you can buy but you should be OK as it not really cold, as in days below freezing.
I camped with a few diesels at Lovicks Hut a month ago, it was below freezing with snow overnight, none had any issue

Matt I went with an additive, we'll recommended Flash Lube additive and quite cheap $15 for 500ml will treat 500 liters.

Not long to go now, just a note I am guessing with all this wind around this week we are going to come across a few trees down, if anyone can could you please bring a chainsaw that would be great. I will have mine but can never have to many lol. Cheers guys see you tomorrow morning.

Chucked mine in but being the temperamental 2 stroke couldn’t get it started last night grrr :-). Bloody chainsaws and whipper snippers the most frustrating machines. See you all bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning
